It’s not about saving money, it’s about being cruel to poor people.
It’s not about saving money, it’s about being cruel to poor people.
“My kids will be fine with all the riches I’ve hoarded in a Swiss bank account instead of my actual presence.”
I heard that it’s only saving around 5 million/year to make these cuts. Contextualizing that with the >1 billion we spend to protect the first family, 698.5 billion we spend on the military (I could go on and on) this is pocket change that takes vegetables, bread, cheese, juice, and seeds out of the hands of poor…
All I can think of are the folks with disabilities that I used to work with back in the day, and how these cuts are going to impact them. Sure, they were disabled from working, but I wouldn’t trust this government of fuckwads to care about details like that; they’ll find a way to stick it to anyone who’s not rich,…
My MIL used to do this once she retired. She was like an Army general. She was very active in her tiny non-Catholic church and would drive around in her beat-up car brow-beating local supermarkets and food places to give her everything they were going to throw away but was still edible. Bruised fruit and vegetables.…
I’m not optimistic. Trump’s base would burn down their own trailers if it meant some black people and abortion harpies would get caught in the blaze.
Though to be clear, there are definitely limits on what kind of things you can and can’t buy on foodstamps. There are definitely things that are and are no’t SNAP-eligible. You can not buy vitamens, supplements, live animals (except certain shellfish, etc), certain prepared foods, hot meals, food for pets, etc...So…
These people are such sociopaths, I doubt they'll care.
Damn. I sincerely hope your situation improves dramatically very soon.
I used to get by on a dollar a day food budget. I figure: a bag each of rice, beans, and pasta, a couple of bags of mixed veg., Some lunch meat and bananas are about the best I can do. (And skipping dinner)
They convince “taxpayers” that it’s actually the poor who are ripping them off and that vindictively severing a valuable and needed service is an altruistic act, as they’re “lowering your tax burden” AND forcing those lazy deadbeat layabouts to get jobs and “contribute to the economy” so they can pay taxes of their…
$10 a MONTH!?
The only thing that annoys me about WIC is that there is no dedicated line to just WIC recipients, thus making it eight times longer than usual to checkout. Not because of the WIC people, mind you. Because the cashiers are all judgey and act like it’s their job to make sure the person really needs those coupons.
Look out Dollar Tree, I’m about to get up in ya and buy an entire bag of groceries!
I hate people who make faces at the people using their WIC or SNAP cards in the store. What entitles them to judge what poverty should look like? If they had their way, everyone on food stamps would have to smear soot on their faces and walk around in a gunny sack.
At what point do we finally admit this is not “fiscal responsibility” or “deficit hawkishness,” but cruelty for the sake of being cruel?
Wow. Don’t spend it all in one place.
Such fucking idiots. Not only do food stamps support the racist trailer park MAGAts who vote for their rotten orange leader, but they’re basically subsidies to farmers as well. Yes, there will also be plenty of “urban” black and brown people impacted by this which I’m sure was the intent, but a not insignificant…
On the plus side, maybe now all those racist suburban soccer moms on Facebook can stop pretending they were outraged when they were in line at the supermarket behind the (black, of course) fur and designer shoe-clad food stamp recipient who had a cart full of vodka, lobsters, cigars, candy and lottery tickets, then…
Well, we all know “those people” just run out and buy lobsters and Cadeeelac cars with their ill-gotten handouts!
