Yeah, like this line:
Yeah, like this line:
I took it more as a vaguely spiritual sort of thing. Like the same soul will be in the next embryo or something.
I totally understand the trepidation, but at the same time it kind of makes me mad. A woman shouldn't have hold back or curtail her feelings or thoughts or how she made her decision because it doesn't align perfectly with one agenda or another or because she has to fear her choice will be used against her and other…
WHO'S A GOOD DOG??
"any profit incentive for doctors to perform c-sections would be reduced." This is definitely true. It's also true that part of the government's desire to reduce the number of sections is financial (though it is also evidence based), however
Spontaneous c-sections are great! Emergency c-sections are - obviously - emergencies. Spontaneous c-sections are unscheduled but non-emergency. So I went into labor on my own, got to the hospital, and they said we'd do a c-section in a couple of hours. It was too late to stop the labor, but the labor wasn't so…
This is my biggest criticism for chosen c-sections. In principle, I'm all for moms making educated decisions about the best choice of birth for them. However, I've seen first hand how dangerous this can be when moms are given "non-choices" like in Brazil. Essentially what has happened in Brazil is that if you have…
It's a pretty common thing around here. FL has terrible birth practices and finding a doctor that is "comfortable" with natural birth is a struggle. VBACs? Almost unheard of. One of the women I talked to at the birth center I went to told me how her OB was talking about c-section scheduling in her first trimester if…
Great point. I think we often try to point to the "ends justifying the means" and that ends up being invalidating. Thanks for this!
I got out of the birthing tub with the baby fairly directly after the actual birth, and the midwife and doula cleaned up whatever was going on in the tub. I never had any interaction with it. Not even sure there actually was any shit, but I assume there was? There was definitely a lot of blood. So, it sounds like at…
I've done the home birth thing twice— the midwife and her assistant do ALL THE CLEANING. All the blood, goop, feces, everything that falls out of you is cleaned up like the birth never happened while you are nestled comfortably on your own couch or in your own bed. It is delightful.
But we didn't break it! It was broken when we got it!
RIGHT? But they're not gonna retire, they still need to work too because their retirement funds tanked from the recession. :'(
omg i know right? if you're poor, what are you doing buying something to make you happy or bring a little joy and distraction to your life. like...what the fuck?
I think Jezebel should stop using the name in their articles, too. Washington's NFL team is all you need to say. Not really helping things to keep repeating the word in one of your articles and in an headline.
Funny how all the distant NA relatives all happen to be Cherokee.... It's almost as thought that's the only tribe they've ever heard of!
"As a Native American"? Are you joking? What are you 1/32nd. As a real Native American who had to deal with the racism, discrimination, hatred, and stereotypes you have no credibility. You obviously haven't experienced who it really is to be hated just because your Native American, to be called a red skin or an injun…
We must preserve the caricatures, people! It's the only way we can honor the noble savages!
Wow, that slideshow article might be the most blithely cruel shallowest article I've read on a "legit" "edited" "entertainment" site. I just... Wow.
I think I heard her on the say it on the Oprah show about her. This was a dumb reporter and really sad because this is a huge moment for WOC. She writes shows that are dynamic, interesting and gossipy without losing wit or relying on tired story lines and in a time when people think reality TV killed scripted shows.…
