I also wouldn’t describe America as “British troubadours”.

I’m sure you and the trailer must be wrong as the article clearly states it’s Mélanie Laurent.

depending on who translated the article, means he wanted to write a scene where his character slaps a fish or forced set builders to sleep in their cars out of COVID precautions

....how in the hell did nuAVClub actually manage to get an actual real deal classic AVClub theme-like article??? Did someone on the inside sneak it through???

I'm sure your detailed descriptions of the music you like are super duper interesting

Jumping in to say that Oldboy is about vengeance as pointless source of moral corruption (another SK movie I Saw the Devil has an even crazier take on the theme). Blue Ruin invites the question of whether the main character should (or could) have let it go, but it’s also pretty enamored of depicting violence.

The Deer Hunter is a slog with a couple of extremely memorable scenes.  IMO, it’s aged pretty poorly.

Probably lots of talented actors waiting for roles.

I assume the UK media has now claimed her as British , as is tradition when anyone Irish wins an award.

A couple of things:

Oh man, seeing the Goo Goo Dolls in Buffalo clubs back in the day. Amazing high energy live show and then Lance would often come out for a Down On The Corner, My Girl, and Never Take the Place of Your Man.

The final seasons get so much undeserved hate it’s ridiculous. It’s got so much great stuff: you’ve got Ross’s ‘I think we should be seeing other people’ as Charlie straight up makes out with her ex in front of him, you’ve got Ross wearing the same blouse as his date, you’ve got Joey learning French, you of course

What the fuck? How about Option C: as an Indigenous actor, she wanted go see this prestigious movie that features other Indigenous folks and then gave her genuine opinion on it. You misogynist psycho.

By the by, Terence Davies, British director of Distnat Voices, Still Lives, passed on October 7, 2023.
His oeuvre (can’t think of a better word) influenced my own work. He wasn’t a happy person but his passion sustained him.
