That Kick-Ass reference was a cute wink to OG MCU Pietro, Aaron Taylor Johnson. And I swear I saw an inflatable Dormammu in the Halloween Town Square.

Flags tomorrow will be at full mast

He has misfires but also so much passion and took so much care of the acting. He was very close to a next gen Joseph L. Mankiewicz, touching so many genres and so obsessed with details. Will check this book for sure.

It’s kinda sad how they point out how much technology has advanced in 30yrs, but nobody thinks to use that technology to give Eddie Jr a nice pair of hands, like the beautiful hands Vincent made for Eddie Sr right before he died.

I remember the time well. “1984" fever was all around that year (even if that wasn’t the point of Orwell’s book). I wonder if that was the first example of that sort of thing. Obviously, later years got the same treatment 1999 (too many works to count, Prince’s song and Space:1999 being the obvious ones). 2001

i hope one day everyone will collectively revisit thor 2 and go ‘actually, it was fine’

Put me down for liking the first Thor, especially the fish out of water stuff.

Someone on another site noted that Monica goes through three walls (well, two walls and a fence) before she goes through the barrier.

On the Criterion commentary for that scene Brooks talks about wishing he had included one extra shot of Aaron standing outside, looking back at Jane from behind glass. As right as Brooks is about that (I always remember it being there even though it’s not), it’s one of my favourite examples of a creator still beating

Absolutely. It’s phenomenal. Both actors are knocking it out of the park, but Hunter’s (Jane’s) immediate reaction to Brooks (Aaron) professing his love for her is one of my favorite moments in any movie, ever. A true masterclass in acting.

“I’m semi-serious about this!” Just frickin’ perfect.

Yeah, INXS kept a following on college radio and AOR even during the period they were ruling the Top 40. I think U2's the only other band of the era to sustain that cross-format following.

Yay! Brie Larson!

It’s a real testament to the man’s talent that I actually still remember him from “The Flying Nun,” and I was just a tyke at the time. Ditto “Beneath the Planet of the Apes” and “Towering Inferno.”  He was the unsung hero of “Sanford and Son” and a memorable asset of a big chunk of prime seventies television. It’s a

IMO one of the funniest scenes ever on Sanford and Son featured Gregory Sierra.

She was the highlight of the ceremony. She had more poise, composure, and style than the last four years combined. That bright yellow coat against all the other black clothing stood out like sunshine and she lived up to it.

Good grief, I think my cholesterol shot up by 25 points after reading this post because of how salty it was.

Oh, yeah, rock stars. Ricky Martin, Rick Springfield and Sean Cassidy all appeared on General Hospital.

When the writing was good (thank you, Claire Labine!), it was GOOD. Engaging, topical, deeply moving and character development like you can’t get anywhere else. When you spend decades with the same characters,
