I guess I can’t really comment on the extent of the German inspections, I just mean they have the safety aspect pretty well sorted from what I’ve seen. No wheels hopping down the road, bald tires, dangling lights, dragging exhaust systems and so on. Those things are a regular sight on my commute, unfortunately.

It’s pretty appalling seeing the allowable condition of vehicles on the road around here. People will, very literally, drive the wheels off their car.
