I’m so sad to see you leave Mercedes.
“This will be my very last post for Jalopnik, and I want to leave you all with a smile and maybe some hope for the future.”
Correct.
Will simply have to move the port to a higher income area like Malibu.
It’s really the shitty behavior that ruins luggage carousels. If everyone just stood a decent bit back, it wouldn’t be a problem. But everyone crowds right at the drop chute. Just stand the fuck back and wait till you see your god damn bag. Then walk up and grab it.
I’d prefer if bag sizes and quantities, as well as only allowing one bag go into overhead (the other is supposed to go by your feet), being enforced. But yeah, charging for checked bags while allowing carry-ons for free obviously incentivizes people to try to get away with as much as possible when it comes to…
I feel like most of the complaints about the Integra are that it’s a modern car on sale in 2022. And also that it’s not the Integra Type R.
I’m unsure of which is more vaporware; this or the Cybertruck.
While I get the point of this QOTD, I want to bring this up.
At the same weight, their skinnier tires probably cause more wear-and-tear to the roads than truck tires.
So the facts are heavier vehicles cause more damage to the roads and hurt pedestrians more when they are hit by one, but if that Heavy Vehicle is an EV then facts don’t matter?
A lot of them just want something to be mad about. Which is fine. You are correct however. It’s tiring.
I think enthusiasts get caught in our own echo chambers, so we think everyone agrees with our take, and the manufacturers just won’t listen. The simple truth is we are a (loud) minority of car buyers, and the majority view cars more as an appliance. They want convenience over driving dynamics.
People are smart enough to know that their personal consumption won’t change the overall direction and aren’t sacrificing their vacations on that alter. And while the price of gas is going up due to summer demand, they also know it’s other issues that have caused it to get this high in the first place.
Agreed. Anyone who doesn’t like the current price should cancel their trips, especially during the times I will be travelling. We’ll be bringing more regular food than usual so we can skip our typical restaurant visit near the beach we day trip to, which will actually make the trips cheaper than last summer.
Maybe, I guess my position is that cars simply won’t be a sign of success for future generations. They don’t even care to get their license at 16. They’ll be too busy saving up for a neuralink connection to bother with a $60k truck.
I’d argue this is the biggest deterrent for EVs at the moment, even if would be buyers don’t realize it. I’ve spoken to many people that have offered several reasons why they don’t want an EV and I always say “what if you got 250-300mi of range but could top off in 5 minutes like a gas car?” and they all think about…
“There are three main reasons, and you can probably guess them: high price, low range and lack of charging infrastructure.”
You’ve got valid points, but there’s a scale problem. A rich person buying a $60-$80k Tesla is one thing, someone making $50k/yr that lives in an apartment and has no charger outside buying a BEV is another. Someone who lives in southern Cali that doesn’t have to worry about cold related range issues is one thing,…
