The “buy a new Civic because gas is expensive and your $4k Suburban is bankrupting you” always cracked me up.

I trust Tom’s view on this, given his extensive experience in negotiating and buying cars.

“I’m looking a lot more reasonable now, aren’t I?”

Not having the Nova make the cut...uncool on their part.

The solution? buy an EV scooter, wake up earlier to catch the bus/train, ride around to work until you can start being able to afford things. If you absolutely need a car, then look for a sound one that’s 5- 10K$. Bottom line is there is no best solution outside of gifting a car to them. A long term loan is the best

So much this. My grandma had an early 90's Buick Park Avenue. Those red suede seats were the most soft and comfortable seats I’ve ever sat in. Not best car seats, best seats period.

You are, in fact, not the first person to come up with that little nugget of knowledge.

Yea it’s odd that high trim luxury cars are “sport” trims rather than super lux driving couches.

Remember, that range number doesn’t account for cold temperatures either, where it’s no stretch to think you’d be under 200 miles.

Jalopnik: We hate cars and so should you

Poor Jalopnik. https://jalopnik.com/this-is-the-best-takedown-of-the-speed-kills-myth-you-1302382244

Why should we have them? All of the things listed are CHOICES the driver has made.
It is ABSOLUTELY an attack on our freedoms. implementing thicker steel, not an attack on freedom. Making better crash structures, not an attack. Forcing people that make good choices or have made peace with the risks and consequences of

It is an attack for those of us that believe the government should have fewer regulations. The societal benefits are not lost on me, but I still feel personal accountability is preferable to being forced to do something. You can’t save everyone from themselves. It’s a damn complicated conversation and anyone that says

Define “should”. Should the 99% of people who don’t drive drunk be forced to blow into their car every time they need to go anywhere? Should I care if someone is too stupid to wear a seatbelt and gets themselves killed? Should we restrict everyone to exactly the same speed so there is no passing, no speed difference

That’s a lot of words to say personable responsibility (dangerous to say those words out loud). Americans treat a driver’s license as a right, not a privilege. And our licensing system is structured as such. Yes, America is unique in that our infrastructure relies heavily on personal transportation. That doesn’t mean

I can state without any hesitation that I would never, ever buy a car with even ONE of these features installed.

Meh. No one would have bought it. This country hates small cars.

Shocking there wasn’t mores responses like this given this website is one big progressive circle jerk.

I’m not sure this author has much going on upstairs so a little blood restriction probably won’t change anything

You sure you know how to wear a tie? If you think the tie is constricting blood flow to your brain, it’s not. It’s your collar. Your collar is too small and doesn’t fit your neck. You need to get a shirt with a proper collar size. A properly fitting collar with a tie can still be quite comfortable.
