What’s awesome is to be one of the Captains of a casino “boat” and get a six figure, large passenger boat Captain’s salary for doing basically nothing but starting the engines and running safety drills now and then.

The casino boat I worked at briefly in college had to fire up the engines and move once per year to remain legally a boat. While this was a river boat and in a different state, it was still a boat who’s entire existing was a legal loophole.

When its -30F and you have a 20 lb backpack, walking a mile to school can be a real shit way to start the day. Hoping someone can pick you up or drive you in a MN Winter storm is a poor plan too.

Your 100% direct sales DO have a place, but a large auto maker like Ford or Chevy could NEVER do it, not because they don’t want to which I am sure they don’t. But the logistics of storing not to mention servicing vehicles in the quantity they do would STILL require a “dealership” even if your not making your purchase…

I used to try arguing that on Porsche forums until one “purist” told me he’d rather see Porsche go belly up than produce anything not a 911. What do you even say to that? I just backed out of the conversation at that point.

As a Minnesotan, their location says everything. Quite possibly one of the most affluent suburbs/areas of the Twin Cities. $20k is regularly funny money in that neck of the woods.

$20k is inexpensive in general for a decent car in this market!

I own a 2000 Jaguar XK8, at $4k this seems fair, but I’d note the following:

We’ve been conditioned to not value our time. Our employers and government undervalue our time, and that has a real psychological effect on people

I’ve never understood the lines of cars, waiting 45 minutes, engines on, to save $6 on a tank of gas. 

I was blown away at the idea that car debt somehow multiplied 15x... makes way more sense this way.
