I don't mean to be rude but this is rather old news in fairness, as well as rather obvious.

I'd love to see the parallel universe versions of the 1960s Bond films starring Patrick McGoohan instead of Sean Connery.

To hell with the dark and gritty shows, bring back "Stargate SG-1" and "Farscape"!

I've been a dyed in the wool "Star Trek" fan since 1995. Its accepting, live and let live attitude and frequent tackling of social issues was one of the many influences which helped make me the democratic socialist that I am today. It wasn't the major influence by any means but it certainly contributed. Basically, as

Sounds like the makings of a good satirical time travel novel or film to me. It reminds of "Time After Time" where H.G. Wells is shocked by American society in 1979 while also attacking (albeit more subtly) Victorian morality and hypocrisy.

I read it earlier this year. As with most short stories collection, some of the stories weren't great but most were of an extremely high quality. One of my favourite alternate history books.

I'd love it someone punched Pat Kenny.

After "Stargate", "Buffy" and "Alien Nation", "Weird Science" is my favourite TV series based on a film. I loved the movie but the premise is better suited to a TV show. It was basically "I Dream of Jeannie" for the 90s with two horny teenagers instead of astronauts and a more street smart genie.

Now playing

I'd have to say "The Time Machine". The film itself may have been mediocre - I didn't think that it was anywhere near as bad as other people made it out to be - but the concept of humanity accidentally destroying the Moon and thus ending civilisation is a great one. Plus the time travel sequences were wonderful.

I adored DS9 but, as I usually prefer the lighter side of sci-fi or at least a happy medium with the light and dark sides, I found the new BSG soul crushingly depressing and gave it up before the end of the first season. Since that was about eight years ago though, I'm considering giving it another go once I finish

I don't think that it was when they posted it though.

There's no denying that this is awesome but it's a day early since "Star Trek" premiered on September 8, 1966.

I love the Nat Tate hoax! I would say that most of the art critics, being a rather pretentious bunch, pretended to have heard him, making it up as they went along, so as to not show themselves up to their fellows.

Who is the target audience, pray tell?

I, for one, was not hankering for the updated version. The Mohawk Guy's hair makes him look like an idiot, frankly.

I now understand why YouTube is the work of the Devil.

Between this and the 1,000 extra suicides in the UK because of the recession article, io9 is full of cheery stories lately, isn't it?

But most of it was based in Scotland.

Well, "monsters running amok in modern Scotland" in the case of the former.

Wasn't really a fan of it myself.
