He's also starting in an era that's not necessarily more negative (let's be honest, people have always been dicks) but when negativity is more easily and loudly expressed based on just about nothing.

Has there been indication that he was going to replace the entire staff of the show?
While he will have a different voice and the show will be different and adapt to his strengths, it seems a bit silly to completely ignore the setting he will work in and assume he will just do something entirely different.

It's the most fun I remember having at a Marvel movie. Didn't care for the post-credit scenes.
