If you pay for it you own it, if an American company funds a movie they own it, it will therefore be American (at least partly if there's also money from somewhere else).
That's even lazier than I thought.
Would you rather consider Sunset Boulevard a German movie? As per my reply to another comment, American financing means the movie will have been made with an American audience in mind (replace with country of your choice).
Not to mention that USA is probably the last country on Earth where one's birthplace and origins…
An American studio funding a movie for an American audience seems American enough.
Where the money comes from is how movies' nationalities are defined as a rule, it's not specific to this poll.
I know, but I'll still blame Armond White (and yes, he voted in the poll) or the Village Voice.
The list was published a week ago, did you guy just notice? Or is that how long it took to try and come up with something witty?
Voters were from all over the world, it was probably still American critics who voted for it.
The solution was actually in front of us all along, what does HDB like?
I don't think there was anything official, especially with Wright still getting a bunch of credits and presumably money he's unlikely to say he was hard done by. Ultimately yes, he left/was asked to leave because he wouldn't accept outside input and Marvel was little by little taking more control of a project he…
I think the musical landscape has changed too much, I was looking for stuff that appeals to mainly 30 somethings, and somehow I think Nickelback are still popular if you look at their sales, tours, radio plays. Though I guess today Patrick Bateman would try to co-opt cultural hipsterdom (and afterall Taylor Swift now…
In his defence, I believe he'd been working on the project since before the first Iron Man was released and came to Marvel with the idea before there was a MCU. But that still left a few years with both parties apparently hoping the other would end up backing down, pushing back the issue until the last possible moment.
It is generally assumed Wright wasn't too happy to have his movie tinkered with to better fit within the MCU, the Falcon scene would then be one imposed on the movie by Marvel.
It did however sound more like a mutual decision for him to leave once both parties realised none would move from their position, but that's…
Taylor Swift still has appeal to a rather young demo (and even hipsters these days), he's more likely to praise Nickelback.
Disclaimer: now having Apple music I decided to see what the fuss about Ms Swift was about, and I've been listening to her stuff on repeat for days (1989 doesn't do much for me though, much prefer…
Really? I didn't see it, one of the reasons was that it was at the Almeida, which sits about 300 people (and is in no way shape or form a West End theatre). Whenever I've seen something there, five people on stage make it seem cramped.
It's the equivalent of sequels and reboots in movies, plays that are adaptations of existing properties, it won't necessarily be bad, but it's still a bit lazy, though not as lazy and creatively bankrupt as a jukebox musical.
Commenters are always looking for titties, Prince or no Prince.
I'll never begrudge anyone getting paid, especially a journalist these days, but that's still a super depressing article.
What involvement?
He wrote a four pages "scenario" and that's it, it's Godard's movie through and through.
