I believe universities encourage rape victims to report to the school rather than the police. They’ve got bullshit reasons for that, but the reality is that it makes it easier for them to sweep rape stats under the rug - what women would want to go to certain universities that have high rape stats?

Please explain to us USains too! There’s a lot of us here that think that is really fucked up. Entrenched patriarchy.

I am so bone tired of this too. I’m tired of even micro aggressions (verbal aggressions) against women and POC, but mostly women, i.e., little put-downs interruptions, ribbing that don’t get said to the men present, personally, since I have to deal with it even from lefty guys. I thought by the time I’d reach the age

Women aren’t as equal as men.

Exactly.

It’s so backed into our culture that it doesn’t occur to them.

It keeps wimmin in line!

I still can’t get my head around why these crimes can’t go straight to the police to be tried as crimes. Also at the very least she should be able to get a restraining order, I can’t see where a judge would say that that would hamper the poor rapist’s collegiate career.

At least a no contact order. geez.

I’m very sorry to hear that.

Related, somewhere lost in my Twitter feed about an hour ago was this:

Yes. I always get a vibe from her that underneath her condescension is suppressed aggression, ready to beat back any criticism, not because she’s afriad of criticism, but because she honestly believes she’s superior and therefore entitled to not have any criticism.

“You are not an iconoclast for being a grown-up.”

Agreed.

Anything Gwyneth Paltrow does she seems to think the rest of the world looks up to her admiringly for guidance on. Of all the things she could have said about her divorce, or about anything else, she could have chosen to leave out the comments that subtly (or not) imply she’s superior and leading the way. But the

Gwyneth Paltrow contributes to the culture of clueless condescension far more than she knows.

I’m in NoHo several times a month. I will look for this.

Yay for you. You’re better off without that gaslighting shit to deal with.

We need to be brave and make the stars and bars forbidden. I know it would be complicated but I think that some smart lawmakers could make it happen. Not under Drumpf, of course, but after.
