I dunno, I’m just tired of so many AAA games releasing in poor/mediocre states and having to hope they get better a few years down the line with updates. Yeah it’s nice if they do end up improving, but I’d rather wait longer for a good game released a bit later versus being sold a “good” game now, it’s actually not

The pre-greenlight system of vetting every game was awful. Way too much of a bottleneck, took weeks for games to get approved, and turned away a lot of good games for inconsistent reasons. Even by Valve’s own admission they would’ve turned away Visual Novel games had the system not changed because they’d assume there

I’m pretty late to the discussion, but I’m having a hard time understanding why “monopolies are bad” is such a contested topic. Yes, monopolies are bad and yes Steam definitely has monopoly power (and I say this using Steam as my preferred platform). The only reason Steam is “good” now is because of Gabe’s leadership.

I feel like an hour and a half is plenty of time to test and make sure the game can run on your PC, which this move feels like more a reresponse after a year of pretty terrible PC ports

Not sure why Kotaku thought reporting on the content of leaked game that will be officially released within two weeks was a good idea, but it shouldn’t be too surprising why Nintendo will keep blacklisting you from future events.

Wow, that looked horrendouss

I guarantee you Epic would remove a game from store if it’s hit with a DMCA claim.

I’ll be honest, the more I see of this movie the more I can’t help but be charmed by it

Right but Ubisoft is accepting submissions for all sorts of things like music, concept art, designs, etc. Things that *could* and absolutely should be done by a professional for a game in development, not charged a flat rate with no way to earn any residuals. Not that Valve’s system is flawless as the percentage skew

Steam forums have always had a problem with bigotry that Valve hasn’t properly addressed. Would be nice if there was some kind of “downvote” button to bury these toxic threads, but that would only put a bandaid over the larger issue with the steam forums.

And now OW 2 has a battlepass system that’s arguably worse and more manipulative

Kind of a false equivalence since Valve is pretty upfront with their split and won’t use community content without some amount of revenue going to the creator. It can be argued that the split should be higher, but I’ve also yet to see game have a system as clear and generous for community to create cosmetics.

None of what you’re describing is Valve abusing their monopoly, just them being complacent. It would be abuse if Valve tried to raise their cut to 35% and kicked developers who wouldn’t comply. It would be abuse if Valve punished devlopers for offering refunds on other platforms while not allowing them on Steam (but

Honestly the only additional I’d be okay with is a basic settings launcher like the one for Spider-Man PC. A simple way to adjust resolution, add a framerate cap, and tweak settings before actually launching the game

I still think the art style looks alright overall, my only real gripe is how plain the backgrounds look compared to the original. If the writing and puzzles are as cunning as the first two then I’ll be able to overlook that.

Broken Age was the first project I ever backed on Kickstarter. It had a rocky road getting to release but despite the all hiccups I thought Act 1 was fabulous...

I believe that was one of the games on the Nvidia leak, so it’s only a matter of time

Would be nice if they brought God of War and Days Gone over too, more games on multiple storefronts is always a good thing

Considering that Persona 4 Golden is only available on PC still and not any modern console, I’m going to say this entirely on Atlus’ incompetence and was never about some secret contract with Sony.

Really hope the PvE stuff is as compelling as they claim because none of the PvP chanegs were worth the 3 and a half year wait for a new update
