I can’t claim this, but I remember reading somewhere that Garak is a character that speaks entirely in italics. I think that about sums it up.

I love the bit in The Pale Moonlight when he says something along the lines of “And I’ll come round later to say... hello” when he and Sisko are talking to that hologram forger. Even when playing the “Good Cop”, Garrak is terrifying.

Of all the Trek shows I have ever watched in my life, Deep Space Nine’s writing was the most... human.

Except Wikiepdia suggests the Posbis weren’t villains, and didn’t try to consume other species. I can see the similarities but the Cybermen have more in common with the Borg.

Also, the Borg are a pretty obvious copy of the Cyberman.
