I think that a lot of people (myself included) think that when you purchase a game, you should have everything available within the game. If it were F2P, everyone kind of expects microtransactions. But a full $70+ game? I really think microtransactions need to stay the f- out unless we’re talking expansion-like shit.

No, you could not, because the loot you got from just playing was noticeably worse than you got from D2, and more to the point was mostly worse than the equipment you were supposed to have at a given point in the game. So you had to at least go to the AH (if not the RMAH) or do a hell of a lot of grinding.

Nicholas doesn’t understand the issue with battle passes and paying for additional content that way. Hence my question.

Right, and games also did not used to come with frequent new content additions.

The folks at Activision has no qualms with double-dipping, or even triple-dipping in the case of CoD (upfront asking price, battle pass, store bundles), because they know they can get away with it. CoD is such a gargantuan franchise at this point that each new entry is virtually guaranteed to sell gang-busters at

I’m sure this sounds absolutely crazy, but you used to be able to buy a game at a premium price and it wouldn’t ask you for more money every few months. At most they’d sell you an expansion later, or a sequel, or an entirely new game.

And Sales! Lots of sales. I bought my copy of the definitive edition for $10 at GoG a couple of years ago

There is no such thing as a standalone product in software.

Yeah and people should write their own engine each time as well, I’m so sick of people leeching off the work of Unity and Unreal engine. They should also write their own programming language and operating system, it’s just scummy to leech off the work of Bjarne Stroustrup and Microsoft all the time. And they should be

Doesn’t sound like you want it. Sounds like you are doing everything in your power to deep throat Nintendo’s boot.

Man what the FUCK

No. They do always want money, but they ultimately want control even more.

They’re referring to works that are unavailable for sale, which emulators make accessible. For instance, Nintendo will no longer sell you a new copy of Windwaker, having disabled the wiiu eshop. Thus, Nintendo is burying their work, rather than selling it.

Nintendo’s insistence on reselling the same games to us over and over again would be more tolerable if those games were readily available, and close to the same technical state that emulation offers.

Sure we do.

....what the hell do trans people have to do with anything in your argument?

i am not surprised people are 1) still pirating stuff (lol) and 2) getting what they deserve when they do it.

For example, people who want 4K HDR 10-bit rips with Atmos audio with correctly-timed subs and without a single ad anywhere, no paywalls and no malware-ridden, sketchy streaming-sites only someone who’s asking for trouble would use?

People who run media servers

why the fuck would you want to deal with shit streaming quality when pirating stuff
