Everything you just explained makes the whole situation sound that much worse.

Or you know, just contoninue to purchase DVD’s and BluRays from online stores like Amazon.

By competitor, do you mean the Steam Deck?  Because games on there tend to be dirt cheap.

As a programmer myself, yes there definitely comes a point where people need to get up and get some exercise. There’s definitely information out there regarding medical issues from sitting in one spot for way too long.

To be fair, there’s a point to be made for teaching kids moderation.  I love playing games, but I also set limits and make sure I’m still getting enough exercise and rest.  If there comes a point where a kid is spending every spare second in front of a game, they probably should be encouraged to take a break.

Yes, Cyberpunk’s early issues were clear mistakes. The developers clearly didn’t intend for cars to be falling from the sky or NPC’s to be taking off on invisible motorcycles. CDPR’s response to 2077's disastrous launch was that it needed to be fixed.

Probably when my brother and I got a NES in ‘86.  The funny thing was that we held off on opening it since we were busy playing with our other presents.  But man, getting that and being able to play Super Mario Bros was such an epic experience as a kid back then.

On Netflix right now it’s currently sitting at number 3, behind Leave the World Behind and The Super Mario Bros Movie. At least it beat Gran Turismo I guess.

You know as someone who’s been into Forgotten Realms for awhile, it is awesome seeing how popular Baldur’s Gate 3 has become.  When I was a kid reading Darkwater on Moonshae, I didn’t think Faerun would become this big.  Helps that BG3 has some really good writing I suppose.

Except people refer to Starfield being an exclusive, all the time. And in the case of Microsoft buying Activision, one of the the biggest concerns from Sony fans time and time again was that they didn’t want Activision’s games to become exclusive.

Try rereading. “A game is an exclusive when a company goes out of it’s way to prevent that game from being available on other systems.”

This isn’t really sad.  Like if Snyder is going to direct something, I’d at least it not be wasted on a property I’d actually give a damn about.

Actually you can play Skyrim pretty easily on a phone using something like GamePass. If Bethesda wanted and spent the time and money, there would be nothing preventing them from putting a Skyrim app on Android or Apple.

How is this not a ‘real’ exclusive?  If people with Xboxes can’t play it, that seems an exclusive to me.

If a company is funding the development and funding the marketing in an effort to keep the game exclusive, how is that different from buying the studio out?

You know there have been plenty of multiplayer games that aren’t live service, right?  Even just recently Baldur’s Gate 3 has multiplayer options, and yet Larian did not need to make BG3 a GaaS in order for that to happen.  Go back far enough it there was a time when the vast majority of multiplayer games didn’t

I guess I had no clue how horrible backwards compatibility was for console owners. I guess when CDPR made next gen updates free for XBO/PS4 owners of Witcher 3, I should have known that was the exception and not a rule.

Right, we covered that. Console users had reasons to repurchase GTA V a decade ago, haven’t really had a reason to do so since then. Most of the double dips since then would likely be due to console players rebuying GTA V on the PC since as I’ve made clear twice now(third times the charm), XBO and PS4 copies are

As I just explained, the PS4 and XBO copies of GTA V are backwards compatible with XSX/PS5. If you bought it for the previous gen, then that same copy already works with the current gen. You don’t need to rebuy the same game in order to take advantage of improved performance or image quality.
