Sometimes there are big shifts in gameplay and that isn’t really a bad thing. Off the top of my head A Plague Tale: Innocence had a few, where the later chapters play very differently from the early ones.

Isn’t Axie Infinity that game that’s tanked recently?

I’d think that some of those like Violent Evergarden and Castlevania aren’t exactly hidden gems.

There’s nothing in game that works as an actual cheat code.  However, you can of course summon other people to help you like LetMeSoloHer mentioned above.  It’s something very intentional by the creators, where they want people in the community to rely on each other when they need help.

I’m firmly in the camp that while I consider Dark Souls to be one of my favorite series now, I don’t think it’s for everyone.

I think a lot of modern game design just doesn’t use trial and error as much anymore. Whether it’s subtle clues or not so subtle, a lot of games will make it obvious what a player so that it’s usually possible to beat encounters on the first try. It just isn’t intuitive to many people that defeat can be a learning

People using the mod aren’t getting the same experience, though. Just by using an easy mode the gameplay is significantly changed from people who play it unmodded.

I suppose the less obvious 3rd choice is to manipulate the challenge, but then it really isn’t the same challenge.

They tweeted something stupid

That isn’t to say Death Note’s live-action movies in Japan were so great either.

I feel like Mr Burns’ advice for business also applies to animation

Ah, old school sakuga. I wonder how long it actually took him to animate that?

While this has rogue elements, to me I’d think this would be better labeled as a deck builder.  Doesn’t this basically follow the same gameplay elements as Slay the Spire?

Sweet, I love Macross Plus. Without it I wouldn’t have one of my favorite AMVs.

That’s a defeatist outlook if ever I saw one. Plenty of horrible things have made millions, pyramid schemes come to mind. Doesn’t mean people should stop explaining why those things are horrible and hope more people become aware.

So what about Battlefront 2?  We’re talking EA of all companies putting loot boxes in a game, and they eventually took those loot boxes out due to the backlash.

Uh, Macross is extremely popular, particularly in Japan.  Do You Remember Love remains a seminal movie in anime history.

People want the monetization to fail, specifically the loot boxes.  If you’re still confused, try reading this: https://kotaku.com/loot-boxes-are-designed-to-exploit-us-1819457592

Do you honestly think that people would forget about the game if it weren’t for Kotaku or other sites?  This is a Blizzard game we’re talking about, it’s being advertised.
