Pretty sure those yellow rarity items were end-game gear upgrades though, so wouldn’t the comparison be more to something like Legendary Crests?  I think getting 10 of those sets you back $25.00, not sure how many of those you need to get a full endgame set.

Free to play really isn’t all that astounding, there are a lot of free games nowadays that are monetized mostly through whales.

Most Souls players don’t care about using mods, so long as it doesn’t allow someone to cheat on official servers.

Those studios still need people to buy into their ecosystem via a console in order to make most of the money from their software.  If you buy a game for the PS5, Sony gets a cut of that sale, same with Microsoft making money from Xbox games.

You have to keep in mind that anti-piracy measures like excessive DRM also incurs some lost sales.  A lot of people will hold off on buying a game if they hear Denuvo is causing issues, for instance.

The way you’re saying this I’m apparently crazy for not finding anything I really want to play on Gamepass atm.  It’s just what is or isn’t worth playing is going to be subjective.  Personally I’ve played through just about everything that caught my eye before

The fact that they’re required to say that shit makes it all the worse actually, as it highlights just how horrible a working environment Gamestop is. But regardless, I find buying from a place that doesn’t sell that spiel to be much more pleasant.

I’d say the other options are better as there’s far less a chance of someone trying to push a pre-order on you or whatever BS Gamestop is up to.  Regardless, Gamestop’s far from the only option for buying physical games nowadays.

Amazon, Bestbuy, and Walmart all seem convenient options for getting physical versions.
