I am not usually this cynical, but I’m starting to wonder if this was even more transactional than many initially speculated. As in, was there actual payment involved (beyond exposure, some free clothes and Birkin bags for her and her friends)?

I agree with what kitschykat wrote — what many will interpret as unhinged (or uneducated), others will perceive as real and authentic. People like Fox and West know who they are trying to reach and it ain’t us.

Ha! I am late Gen X and I feel you. I am pretty informal in my texts now, but the rare times I post anything (now that I’ve taken most social media off of my phone), I still use grammar and punctuation.

I actually knew who she was before (she was great in Uncut Gems), and she definitely lost cool points with this relationship. Nothing to see here, just one of Ye’s creepy flings.

I know that with texts, many linguists have suggested (like Gretchen McCulloch, who wrote Because Internet) that formal punctuation is sometimes seen as pretentious and/or a marker of one’s age. You don’t need a period at the end of a text, for example, as it’s simply understood. I imagine the same logic applies to…

The only reason I’m not worried for her safety is her extreme wealth affording her and her children security detail. This is the opposite of romantic. I haven’t been reading a lot of mainstream coverage of it so I hope they are reporting responsibly and not, “Oh, that Kanye!” (HAHAHAHA…sigh)

It’s not even about that, though. Everyone knows grunge was, at least in part, a reaction to hair metal. Motley Crüe is one of the first bands people associate with the genre (vs., say, Stryper). Zero need for Vedder to mention them by name. Just seems petty.

Everyone is a dick in this feud. Motley Crüe were kinda fun/mostly sucked. PJ had some good songs, some awful ones (Jeremy still makes me cringe) and Vedder just sounds like a sanctimonious asshole here.

Yes! L.I.E. was eclipsed by 9/11 if I recall correctly. Released right about the same time. Haven’t seen it since it was in the theatres. Must rewatch.
