Are you white? I am not a visible minority (that’s a Canadian term; exactly what it sounds like) and I know that my experiences with the cops have been different than my black friends.

More than cops? Yes. I know enough doctors personally not to assume they are always in it for purely the right reasons (there is a fair bit of money, prestige and presumed nobility associated with medicine), but there are definitely easier ways to make more money that don’t benefit humanity nearly as much. What is…
You were talking about assumptions. Just like I don’t assume a root canal will be pleasant, I don’t assume a cop necessarily has good intentions. I don’t think discussions of who is evil and who isn’t are necessarily useful (eg, is half the country evil or not — they voted for that fucker regardless of intention) so…
I don’t assume cops are there to do the right thing.
Even if their lawyers manage to argue successfully that this wasn’t treason, surely giving terrorists *fucking directions* is a gross negligence of duty.
People might also be migrating because of the recently changes to WhatsApp’s terms of service. At least one groupchat I participate in is supposed to migrate over there, and we’re all to the left of the political spectrum.
I remember the episode of the Apprentice where they showed his personal apartment. Wall to wall gold everything. A poor person’s idea of a rich man indeed.
I know. Ugh. Just read an article about it this weekend (sorry, still don’t know how to hyperlink):
Can you link to an article re: the substantiated reports? I hadn’t heard that before now, but I have been on a bit of an ews fast today after the last couple of days of non-stop doomscrolling.
Not disagreeing — hence the use of quotation marks around “protestors.” I think they were both complicit and incompetent. I don’t think it was a conspiracy not because I have faith in the cops, but because this didn’t seem very well orchestrated. But what do I know? I’m sure the cops knew — hell, there were cops among…
That sounds nightmarish.
I am learning so much today! (Seriously!)
That’s a fair chunk of change to undermine democracy.
Who the fuck charters a plane? I consider myself pretty fortunate and even if I pooled a bunch of friends together, I doubt we could even come close to affording that. Unless they, like, liquidated their retirement savings or something. Because they’re idiots.
I had a former coworker who would joke with me, a Jew, about how he was “practically Jewish” because of his Jewish stepfather. It was fine because he was mostly kidding — and he did know a lot about the community — but he would occasionally opine on things like he was In the Know and I kinda raised my eyebrow.…
We’re going to see a lot more of these cases. It’s a lot harder to hide this shit than it was even five years ago. Internet + greater awareness = they’re coming for you.
I’ve read that more people got arrested during the first day of the Kavanaugh protests. I wonder if that’s still true.
Also:
Too late to ETA: I also just read that Trump’s newly installed Pentagon leaders blocked the DC National Guard from getting ammunition or riot gear, interacting with protesters unless for self-defense, or sharing equipment with local law enforcement without the acting Secretary of Defense’s sign-off.
Indeed. It’s all about the STEM, when what you need is STEAM (“a” for the arts, liberal and fine). When people don’t know their history...
