You might be right, but I would go Honda because we got ten years out of ours without anything more serious than replacing the battery.

Maybe Tracy will be a “cool dad” too someday? Nah.
Wisdom is cool.
A Cadillac CTS V wagon weighs more than a new Honda Odyssey.
Does your “Blog-Dad” Editor realize just how creepy the first paragraph of his portion of this article sounds?
Read this instead: (can’t find the vid right now)
Cool.
A fully loaded new Pacifica or Odyssey is not going to leave much change from 60k. The real compromise is going to come when his family includes three kids, two dogs, and all of their attendant crap to shove in an old BMW that probably won't even be running at that point
So buy an Odyssey instead, which we all know is a better choice anyway.
Much better pick than those of the editors, who are neither “cool” or “dads”.
Price please?
I think that is a fair thing to say, although it does appear both companies made a concerted effort for the car to be successful but we shall see, won't we?
The six cylinder turbocharged models probably won’t be that much cheaper than a base model Boxster/Cayman. I think it would be a mistake for Toyota to compete with Porsche and price them too similar. I chose a Supra over a Porsche the first time because it was cheaper.
All you have to do is sit in one to know its more Toyota than Subaru.
Do a little reading or just watch the video on the entire development of the BRZ/86 and you might discover how wrong you are. Toyota basically designed and built the entire test mule and delivered to Subaru in the hope they would stop dragging their asses and make a commitment to providing the engine and manufacturing…
So it’s your turn to get a dog collar thrown on by your esteemed editor to trot out yet another retreaded article about this car. Geez, you guys are worse than the Hollywood hack writers that keep releasing another version of the same goddamn “blockbuster” movie over and over again.
If the Supra weighs in at 3200 lbs, more or less Cayman division, and better weight distribution than the 86, I really don’t see how this car won’t be very entertaining to drive.
I predict the BRZ/86 will be the gateway drug for this car. I am purposely going to avoid any sound clips of this car once it actually hits the street. Actually, 718 owners might want cover their ears as well, because it will make their 4 cylinder boxer sound like a garbage disposal.
I prefer to think of the bodyines at this point as unobjectionable and somewhat fluid. Actual paint, wheels, and detailing will dial down the Meh factor.
Those still shots of it at Goodwood are pretty revealing to anyone with a functioning pair of eyeballs. I like it; sort of angrier version of a GT86. I still think everyone talking smack about this car are going to look foolish, but I could be wrong (probably not, though).
