Have a good time out there!
A 1974 Porsche 911 weighed 2500 lbs and had less than 175 hp. One of the lighter, and more powerful (and expensive) cars of that period. A typical British sports car of that era would be lucky to have 100 hp. Any car capable of similar acceleration to that of a BRZ was an extremely expensive and rare example. Try a…
Reminds me of the Car Talk episode where someone left a full bag of Hershey Kisses in their vehicle overnight to find it empty the next day without a trace of them except for a little tinfoil and paper sticking out of the heater vent...
This country is populated by a bunch of spoiled brats that wouldn’t even know how to drive a sports car unless it had 400 hp, traction nannies and all wheel drive.
After the engine was broke in, I just started driving it hard without a complaint from it in four years. It wants to be driven hard.
Because most people don’t even know what it is, and are probably never going to see or drive one in their lifetime.
I have owned mine for 4 years cane it every day and it pulls just as strong with no problems since the day I bought it.
Apparently the haters believe anything good about this car is fake news.
You sound like someone who a) never drove one, and b) also doesn’t know what they are talking about.
Disagree, Toyota has basically said it would be naturally aspirated. I don’t think it will be over 225-230 hp, although torque should be respectable with more displacement.
Torque and power both start to come on anywhere around 3500-4000 rpm depending on your momentum. It isn’t that big of a deal. And yes you can torch any mom in a minivan or SUV at a stoplight unless she is Danica Patrick.
Depending on where you commute you would be irresponsible revving any car out, including the 86.
It’s a good thing you never drove in the sixties seventies or eighties when most sports cars had 150 ft lbs or less for torque.
I am always amazed that the “it’s too slow to do this or that” statements are always made by people who have never driven one.
I prefer to think of it as fast enough, but I don’t track it, and I don’t street race.
A Mustang feels like a cow on a tight twisty road compared to the twins.
Umm, 90mph is already at least 10 mph above every posted speed limit in America. Lost your license yet?
Then rev it out to where the power is, not a big deal.
I really get tired of the “I don’t want to rev any car above 5000 rpm” whining by people on this website who are supposed to be car enthusiasts. Christ, they would probably shit themselves if you told them to speed shift..
I don’t know what your target speed needs to be for a highway approach but I never lack for power when merging onto one.
