More RPG's Please.

I honestly don't get how anyone can count Nintendo out without feeling silly.

And they don't run their business that way. They've always been risk-takers, just in really weird ways, and when it's worked, it's been huge for them (NES, Game Boy, SNES, DS, Wii, 3DS), and when it's been weaker (N64, GameCube, Wii U), they've always been smart enough to find a way out of their troubles in unexpected

Really? I am incredibly impressed with the gamepad design and usage. It's so much lighter and more comfortable than I thought it would be. The fact that my wife can walk around the house to different rooms while playing an WiiU game on the gamepad is amazing. Or if she has a settings question she can just bring me the

Surprisingly enough the only two other games people seem to be talking about from the other two consoles is Sunset Overdrive and that spaceship game. Because they're colourful, different, and look fun and joyous to play... pretty much the bred and butter of Nintendo. Of course they stole the show because Nintendo

I'm certainly not denying that Nintendo is a company. I was saying that Nintendo's conference was more personal and genuine than what the other companies offered. A strong part in the declaration of who "won" E3 is based off the hype and ability to excite, Nintendo may not have shown the strongest games but they had

their main successes have been on handhelds for a long time now

Fils-Aime: Right now being the operative word.

Well, Nintendo just sold me a WiiU with their event, and I know I'm not only one. I've had the WiiU for a few days now, and have had more fun with it than I have in years with other consoles. The night I got it we had some siblings over to play Nintendo Land, and it felt like a damn Nintendo commercial. It was fun as

They make new IPs pretty regularly, even if they're not the biggest. The other thing is that often they make entirely new games, but use existing franchise characters to add a level of familiarity. You can't tell me Warioware was anything like the previous Wario games, for example.

I've always wondered why people don't ask for Sony/Microsoft to stop developing consoles and just develop games for Nintendo. Hell, Sony's first Playstation almost WAS a Nintendo peripheral, and if people want a console to stop being developed, it should probably be from the companies that joined the latest, right?

Or, let's just have all consoles stopped being developed and have all game devs make games for PC. Why even have consoles?

Well, if you don't need to sell consoles, you are more likely to make games that are optimized to sell on their own. In that case, stuff that increases the appeal of a platform (due to increased variety) is out in favor of stuff that is known to sell large quantities.

I went through 6 Xbox's with a red ring of death. None were played more than an hour at a time. Two failed the day I bought them. My PS3 updates and installs for 20-30 minutes every time I turn it on. Every new game requires checking for updates, installing, please wait. On PC, Jade Empire 100% will not run on

They didn't won because Zelda, don't be a fanboy yourself. They won because they showed many games, at least 4 new IPs from them (wether you find them interesting or not is your own opinion), they had 3 days of nonstop pure gameplay streaming with no bullshit CGI "look how cool my game MIGHT be" crap.

it's only because they've been around for much longer than any other company. there's incredibly long dry patches inbetween their games (in the time the entire Uncharted IP was launched until now, 7 games, a couple of books and a motion comic, there has been 2 Zelda games. Assassins Creed has had 17 games in that same

And those people can rightfully fuck off. They're usually the people who think Nintendo's software has value, but not enough value to 'justify' buying a lowly Nintendo console.

Schreier: I guess what I mean is, when I'm playing and I see a man—in response to what you said about Link being a representation for the player, and the player being the main character—when a man is playing, he can feel more represented by the player character than a woman playing might.

Aonuma: Actually the voice issue is a little bit tricky. We could just make him talk, we could just give him a voice and have him speak, but does that add to how fun the game is? Does that add to the experience? It might actually just make it the same as a lot of other games. By not having him talk, it kinda lowers
