I’m just glad to see (based on the plot description, anyway), that this is not exactly the same movie as The Book of Life, however much it may have seemed that way from the marketing.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan, on the first-generation Xbox, was a much maligned game. But goddammit did I have fun slicing up battle droids with my lightsaber.
Prior to this, my #1 would have been the hallway fight in S1 of Daredevil. (And if pressed, I’d probably give the #2 spot to the stairwell fight in Daredevil S2.)
Just wanted to point out that AV Club alum Nathan Rabin wrote THE Weird Al coffee table book, and is currently in the middle of a grand project to write about every Weird Al song ever recorded. You can catch up on the latter at Rabin’s website: https://www.nathanrabin.com/
Came in here to post this. The framing simply reflect’s Elliot’s state of mind.
Love this film, thanks for highlighting it.
Comedian Doug Stanhope.
<Barbarino> I’M SO CONFUSED!! </Barbarino>
Someone is probably creating the Smoked Kurt Russell gimmick account at this moment.
Testing...yes, looks like it worked. Still, I feel like I need to complain about something, so... Eew, what’s up with this formal font? I feel like I should be wearing a jacket and tie in here.
Totally agree, I couldn't put it better. Both cast and crew know their roles so well, it all just seems effortlessly entertaining.
Hot take: Erin Brockovich is a very good film. Obviously it was well-recognized by various awards bodies, but there seemed to be a backlash.
I only like the odd-numbered ones, so I guess it's the opposite of Star Trek.
That is perfect. I've always made a similar argument: "How can anyone be a big fan of the Yankees? It's like being a big fan of IBM."
One of my favorite parts of Chuck Amuck (the Chuck Jones autobiography) was that Daffy Duck was based on their original producer, Leon Schlesinger. (I'm paraphrasing from memory, so anyone correct me if I'm wrong about any of the following details.)
I always thought of Foghorn as a loving satire of a pretty widely known and liked character. I never thought to ascribe anything malicious to the WB crew towards Kenny Delmar (or Fred Allen).
Peter Cook: "Because I lied. Everything I've ever told you has been a lie. Including that."
If you're not a Yankees fan, then evolution worked!
You should consider spending more time with them, in order to sabotage everything your sister is doing to them. There has to be a way to wring entertainment out of the horror…
Also one of the best-ever cinematic depictions of The Great Depression. No need to go into all of the economic complexities of the period, just follow the life of an average kid who is slowly starving to death.
