What is more likely to you, that some scaaaaary evil woman brainwashed three people so thoroughly that they’d rather spend the next 3-8 years of their lives in juvenile hall than admit they’re not sure that actually happened, or that an ex-husband was abusive?

The judge ordered the kids to meet with their dad. Emotions were never mentioned. Did she overstep her authority? Maybe. Maybe not. I’m just saying that this may actually have been a wakeup call these kids needed if they aren’t already too far gone.

She did not order them to love their father. You are really inferring some really crazy shit from what she actually said...and you seem to take it so personally.

I think there’s a big difference between the two situations you describe, but maybe that’s just me.

I’m not saying the dad is a great guy, or even a decent guy. I just think that the judge potentially has a reasonable rationale for keeping the kids away from the mother, and I’m not going to automatically look at her as the enemy in this case. She may well be the most rational of the adults involved in the case.

You are reading the transcripts from a single hearing. I’m just saying there is clearly far more to this case than 24 pages of transcripts. Parents threaten kids all the time with punishment in order to get them to do the right thing. I think it’s completely unreasonable to think that this judge is arbitrarily…

The kids have already been forced to take sides and are paying for a crazy fucked-up parental divorce situation. The judge in this case could very well be doing what is in the kids’ best interest by keeping them away from both parents who are using them as pawns in their battle against each other.

If it’s illegal, it will be overturned. At this point, I give benefit of the doubt to the Michigan legal system over the random Kinja commentator who claims to be an attorney. Besides, even good attorneys get fired up about things that are perfectly legal...that’s their job.
