I've always wondered why automatic headlamp dimmers, although available in select cars since the 50's, never caught on as well as most other automatic convenience features. If you drive outside of the city at all, constantly switching your lights between high beam and low beam for oncoming traffic becomes annoying

About eight years ago I was working at a GMC dealer doing pre-delivery inspections on new trucks. There was one occasion where we recieved six Sierras with Silverado badging down the left side. They were GMCs on one side and Chevys on the other.
