The February wasteland isn’t what it used to be. Recent February releases from the past couple of years: Get Out, John Wick: Chapter Two, and Deadpool. Black Panther is coming out the weekend before this. I don’t really think of February as a dump month any more.

I wish they would just recast someone else as Jane Foster and maintain Thor’s relationship with her, it just seems like a disappointing waste of story potential to drop her character entirely and (I think) would be far more interesting if done right then trying to match Thor up with some other Marvel character.
She especially does not want to be locked into the initial contract. They specifically hired talented young people with no background to keep costs low over the first trilogy. Once that runs out, it’s fairly typical for people to say they’re walking away as a preamble for renegotiating their deal.
