Gonna give it a shot. The nested-comments plugin convinced me.

Phrasing! Am I doing it right?

Since you went there, and since we're talking about drum sounds, how about those smack-upside-the-head drums at the beginning of "Sat in Your Lap"? To me that was Kate telling the world that they were dealing with a whole new Kate.

The album is "Low," and it comes conveniently presorted for your convenience: the mostly instrumental "ambient" stuff is on what we used to call "side 2." Side 1 is conventional rock tunes, but with that distinct "Berlin era" Bowie/Eno/Visconti off-kilter skew.

Yeah, like those three thwacks at the beginning of Sound & Vision…swoon. Somehow in the context of Low, that drum sound still strikes me as absolutely fresh and distinctive.

I actually liked chorus bass when it was a current thing — I play the bass, and anything that made the bass more prominent in the mix was cool with me. When I hear it now…not so much.

To the extent Gabriel leaving Genesis could be attributed to personal tensions, I would imagine it was between Gabriel and Tony Banks, who apparently has always considered himself the "leader." It's not like Collins sneakily usurped Gabriel's role as lead vocalist; he basically fell backwards into it.

JUDAS!!

Back in the day, my Gabriel-obsessed friends and I referred to them as "1," "2," and "3," before we learned about the Car/Scratch/Melt nomenclature.

except for maybe Auto-Tune in the last 10-15 years

I'm guessing the opening track, "Intruder."

You mean we're not on a break anymore?

When I first heard about the premise and the cast it sounded so promising. Then I started reading the reviews…then I started reading the comments here…it sounds like such a waste.

Scumbag College is beholden to no one!

This is O'Reilly's audience you're talking about: people who assume that ever since the goddamn hippies took over, all public school students have been spending their K-12 years in classes like "Advanced Self-Esteem," "The Infinite Evil of White People," and "An Introduction to Anal Sex (for Grades 3 and 4)."
