Completely agree. Anyone hear who believes corporate management, Fortune 500 or otherwise, is filled with long lunches, lavish vacation spots, and huge bonuses is delusional. I have three degrees, work as a senior manager, and have good compensation. In exchange, there are very few days off. I took a “day off”

it was somewhat explained in another similar article comments section that all businesses that are publically traded, there’s an expectation by the shareholders that keeping a reserve is completely taboo. extra monies is ‘supposed’ to go to them.

And there is the issue: companies with too much cash flow can get hammered on the stock market since that cash is not being used to make more money for stock holders, it’s just sitting there, not being reinvested into something more profitable.

I’m convinced that most major corporations are just a house of cards — nothing more than accounting tricks to keep their heads barely above water while the executives enrich themselves.

Has there ever been a multi-month drop to practically zero for both business and personal air travel?

Should companies be forced to increase their costs (and therefore the prices they must charge) to survive such rare events?

It seems like bankruptcy is the least-bad outcome to society for companies like Hertz.

I’m convinced that most major corporations are just a house of cards — nothing more than accounting tricks to keep their heads barely above water while the executives enrich themselves. Tap one little card at the bottom and everything comes crashing down, except for executive salaries of course. Gotta take care of

A couple of things:

“...by which time, my house will hopefully be sold,...”

A problem we have is that underleveraged companies are prime targets for vulture capitalists (like Mitt Romney’s Bain Capital). Once those parasites get a hold of the company the story is as predictable as it is frustrating.

But hey, the executives always get paid.

Of course I’m totally opening emails addressed to ME from JH. Specially when they include some superlative such as “Horrible”. It’s like my morning routine along with making coffee at 4:30 in the morning.

While I agree with the Bebop being better than Champloo... Space Dandy fits the theme of the article better than both of them. Holy shit is that show so bonkers and insanely easy to binge.

SAO to me is largely interesting themes with haphazard execution. Its sins are hardly much worse than the average shounen series. I’ve seen Dragonball, Naruto, Bleach etc. They’re all guilty of a lot of the same things and generally less conceptually interesting but don't get nearly the amount of shit. I mean SAO is ha

but the anime for furries makes the list. Uh-huh

The only thing that was better in Champloo IMO was the animation

That’s pretty much how I feel, but it’s also such apples and oranges that I don’t begrudge anyone who prefers Bebop.

Bebop is mentioned at the top of the article as the show that everyone recommends to newcomers, so I assume it’s the article’s de facto ninth recommendation

It’s not unusual for an anime community to split between Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop, so I don’t consider it suspect per se. It often comes down to whether you prefer swords and hip hop, or space and jazz. But for my money, Cowboy Bebop is just plain ol’ better made.

I’ve seen a lot of anime, though I’m also a major critic of most anime... and both Black Lagoon and Monster come up as mediocre in my mind. They do nothing to leverage the medium, and Monster in particular goes on and on and on... amounting to very little by the end. Should’ve kept it a concise 26 episodes, I think.

Rail ain’t going to kill trucking until you can run a railcar to every front door. And airplanes aren’t going to help you until you finish that runway in you back yard. Or you’re willing to dig a big-ass trench with enough room to tie up a float of barges to bring you your grain.

I’ve bought 4 new Hondas from my local dealer over the years and am about due for another one (probably a Civic Hatchback). Last time I was there for routine service, I noticed that all the cars in the showroom had clear plastic chip protection already applied about halfway up the hood and front fenders, and a suppleme
