So, this past weekend, my wife, my son, and I went to Tora-Con 2019, sponsored by the RIT Anime Club, down the road from us at the Rochester Institute of Technology. This made our fourth time attending the convention, and I wanted to do a brief write-up of my experiences.
I thought I’d wrap up these 12 days, and celebrate Christmas Day proper, with some brief nods to a few of my favorite Christmas episodes in anime that I’ve seen.
In a previous piece, I wrote about my general watching habits, whether to follow or binge or what. Here, I thought I’d share how I decide what to watch in a season by going through my first pass at the Winter 2019 schedule.
As a fan of anime, and a fan of gaming, I’ve taken several opportunities to combine both fandoms into one, in video game, mobile game, and card game forms.
Over the last several years, there’ve been several anime series that have a major tendency to make me hungry while watching them.
So, I thought I’d bring back some more Anime Quick Hits. Let’s get back on board the bus!
*Okay, not profit. Well, not monetary, anyway.
About 4 years ago or so, I got a subscription to Crunchyroll. Since then, I’ve been plagued by the question: follow along as shows are broadcast, or binge?
I am the father of a 6-year old son. Although I’ve been watching anime off and on for the past 15+ years, I’ve been the most actively watching it since my son was about 1-2 years old.
I had several ideas for mini-topics, that weren’t enough for a full article, so I thought I did this in a quick-hit, omnibus style. Let’s do it!
Before I started watching anime, I never thought about reading manga or light novels. (Heck, before I got really into anime, I never even *knew* about light novels.) Now I’m gathering a nice little collection, although I’m generally with Hirotaka above on how I buy/read it.
In 2016, I attended my first anime convention, with wife and son in tow. We returned to the same convention in 2017 and again this year. While not the largest of conventions, it’s still a pretty nice con not too far away, that will be celebrating its 15th year next year. It’s put on by the anime club of a nearby…
As I did last year, I thought I’d share my favorite opening and closing anime themes for the last year. To simplify this, I broke it down to favorite OP and ED for each season, plus a year-wide Honorable Mention for each. This is strictly based on personal preference out of the themes for series I watched, with maybe…
Hey, I’m Matt, a/k/a umrguy42, and this is my TAY Secret Santa Gift Guide. I’m terrible at this “describe yourself” stuff, so, bear with me.
Because why not, I thought I’d share my favorite opening and closing anime themes for the last year. To simplify this, I broke it down to favorite OP and ED for each season, plus a year-wide Honorable Mention for each. This is strictly based on personal preference out of the themes for series I watched, with a little…
Matt Sayer had a great article on why he’s a fan of the LEGO video games as a space (and money) saver over the real thing. Like him, I’m totally onboard with Traveller’s Tales’ series of licensed games. I’ve played at least some part of most of them, and own almost all of the ones released for consoles/PC. (If only I…
I started following Deadspin’s “Adequate Man” sub-site from the beginning, intrigued by the idea of “let’s have some articles on how to be adequate at things”. Naturally, this has since devolved into other random stuff, but I was inspired to explore the topic of what an “adequate man” should have in his (or her)…
