What your missing is that the $20,000 is after dealer markup which is about $3,000. So realistically is lost $13,000 in 2 years which is 40-43%. Which is downright awful. We went with CRV which is worth $3,500 more after 2 years and gets 29mpg average instead of 25mpg.

Really depends on what experience you have before now? If you can add your current knowledge and skills then you might be able to make it work. Otherwise, if you are a laborer or something, you are not likely to make it. So much easier to just hire a low 20 something programmer.
