How about the Poster Child for “Good Chassis, Poor Engine”?

I have absolutely ZERO shame admitting that my dream car when I was young was the Eclipse from The Fast and The Furious. To 14 year old me that car was amazing. I was always interested in airplanes but until that movie came out, until that car pulled across the screen for its test run before heading to the street races

I agree with every single one of your points and a modern Silvia would be awesome.

As much as I want to agree with you (and OH GOD do I want a modern S-Chassis) I think this is a perfect example of a car NOT to revive. The formula for the 240SX (as far as I see it) was:

If you went back in time to the early 90s and showed elementary school-aged me a picture of this car and said “This is what a Lamborghini will look like in 2021.” I would have exactly ZERO issues believing you.

I think they might be making a resurgence but I always love getting in my car and driving with the HUD. 1991-1993 Nissan 240SX with the “Power Convenience Group” got them and boy are they a nightmare to track down a full set these days.

It actually has a purpose!!

It takes a particular mix of daring and stupid to ride it flat out. The MASSIVE backfire on throttle release is well worth it though.

You get it!! You can like an item/car/engine and yet absolutely despise the fans.

Who hurt him?

We had a 3.5hp one in the Barstool/Pit Bike for the drag strip. Good for 35mph flat out.

So I have ZERO clue on the longevity or reliability of the thing but when they run, the 99-04 Ford 4.6 DOHC Mod motor is a joy. It’s tiny in comparison to its competitors but at 305hp Naturally Aspirated and 390hp with a Supercharger, it’s a potent motor for its size and era.

The best new car for a teenager is something relatively new (for safety) but that is also old enough/cheap enough that the teen can modify it as they want with whatever money THEY are making. Let me break this out so it hopefully makes sense.

IF we were going to do a Motorsports in the Olympics (which we do have non-human powered vehicle sports like sailing), although I’ll say I think it’s a poor idea for actual motorsport.

Rain is fine. It’s the snow that I don’t want to deal with on the bike.

I’ve done two kids in the Mustang as well. Remember, I have this 240 Vert that I’m never selling AND I have a Mach 1 Mustang.

REDTOP isn’t going anywhere. In fact, this weekend or next I’m getting some help to fix a timing oopsie that’s making the engine run poorly (tooth slipped in lower chain). Once that’s done it’s going back on the road. I’ve got some Eibach Sportline springs to put on with new shocks, a set of near immaculate OEM

This is an option. She keeps loading me with projects around the house and the 240 isn’t being sold so I need to be able to collect more transmissions since they are disposable at this point.

I’ve honestly been thinking of redoing the interior in red or red accents later on. The red top is aftermarket and as far as I can tell nearly one of a kind (there MAY be another but we think the shade of red is different).

The 240SX isn’t going anywhere. I just need something to get me to and from work. I’m not selling anything from my collection.
