You never know until you look. Also SVT forums and groups could be a good source.

Couldn’t really Rally not avoid it here lol. But yeah. After 2 years of welding in High School, plus other garage projects, these were not my prettiest welds. But the external ones had good penetration so it should be ok.

Thank you for reading!

Find groups on Facebook that you can chat with. Make friends. You never know who has what you need. That's how I get 90% of my parts. In fact my main source for partsis the guy who got the $1000 ticket last year for the 3 block Skyline burnout.

Short answer: Yes it was an option from the factory but never on the verts. It only shows speed.

Yes I have. But the wife LOVES the pop ups. Happy wife happy life, pop-ups stay. Lol

That’s why the original Kinja article is called “Lessons for eBay Buyers”. I’ll gladly admit I was stupid in buying it. I had ZERO idea how to inspect the car and was more concerned with owning a car than looking deeply into it.

Sadly they are not. They are some pep-boys brand (ASsomething I think) but you can't get the center caps anymore. They are being tossed when I go to 5 lug.

Compared to the weld that I had to remove, this was worlds better. The exterior welds had far better penetration, the angle and being the first weld into the material led us to run a little cold.

It would have been very very difficult. The conversion includes a ton of welded in bracing and I'd have to cut a roof off myself. Without ASC in business it would have been tough.

Great catch. It was sold to my cousin and my cousin’s half brother. Two different people.

You’re back!! I hope your recovery progresses well!

2005. Won 2nd in the Non-SVT/Non-ZX3 class

Yep. Bracket. All motor Automatic.

Bracket Racing/test bed for Automatic-All Motor performance. We discovered the drivetrain loss through the 4F27E (roughly 25%). Found out power levels that destroy the 4F27E (anything more than an additional 15ft-lbs of torque) etc. for bracket racing it was consistent to +/-0.01 seconds after 3 time shots.

For everyone asking, the car was heavily modified for bracket racing. It ran Micro-sprint tires for traction and was extremely consistent. You could predict what it would run to +/-0.01 seconds.

Selling any project is tough. I’ve only sold one and I still miss it to this day more than a decade later.

My wife had one of the “Sport” trim ones. She LOVED it. It served her well in PR until a friend took it one night without telling her and when the engine overheated (she knew of the leak but he didn’t) he dumped a few bottles of ice cold bottled water on the block.....

Fun Fact: Giorgetto Giugiaro is the designer of the first generation VW Golf

I get to enjoy it often. After the frame repair and replacing the entire engine wiring harness, it has only been small issues. You know, random Vacuum leaks, dying MAF, ground wire snapping on the fuel pump, water pump leak. Just the usual.
