I thought about that line to keep costs and more importantly HP down. High horsepower (beyond reason) leads to super high speeds and difficulties in designing a car safe enough for racers, think how the Demon is not legal in NHRA since it doesn’t have a cage.

I’ve put some thought into this.

I’m a pilot, drag racer, and engineer. I am superstitous beyond belief when it comes to vehicles. Of the many I have (life is difficult) here are the top 3:

And your last sentence kills the point. You are comparing apples to Hatsukoi no Kaori Ichigo. It is completely unfair to judge a car based on a market that customers had no access to, especially since a majority of buyers then (and now) have no clue what is offered in Japan. At the time the Maxima was out, and in the

This was back in the era of the R32 and 240SX. It really was sporty for its time and the 4DSC really did fit. It did not age well but in its day it was a rocket.

My parents had one identical to the header image. I’m a Ford guy mostly but that Maxima made an impression. I guess that’s why I jumped at the chance to buy a Pearl white 240SX convertible.

The R-Code Mach 1 motor is underrated from factory. Mine, with 2,000mi on the ISO, dynoed at 281whp and 290wtq. With a 15% drivetrain loss the car was already at 322hp and 330tq from the factory. They were underrated to not piss off the 99 Cobra guys AGAIN afterthought whole HP fiasco that prevented the 2000 Cobra.

Since this discussion had the Jota itself covered well, can I just say:

Not adding much on the science here but I do have an anecdote. My first project car was an 02 Ford Focus with the Zetec motor in it. It had a Ford Racing head that we shaved 0.040" from and ended up with a 10.8:1 compression ratio. That motor made nearly 200hp all motor, no turbo, no super high revs, street drivable

Hooray! Another reason to avoid Goodyear! The stock FZ45 Eagles on my Mach 1 (“specially developed” for the car) were overpriced garbage and had all the traction of a slug covered in Crisco. So not only are thier products horrible but so apparently are the people in the company too.

I have a friend making a one-off custom 1:24 scale model for me. 240SX Convertible. It required a 180SX and a Silvia kit to make. Still in process. Will be a scale match to my car.

Our college car club used to do runs on it, LATE LATE LATE at night. Groups of 4 cars, grouped based on combined driver skill and car capability, would leave campus spaced about 5 minutes apart between groups. We’d drive to the cattle guard on the PV side and then the chase was on. Stopping point was the overlook. It

AZ89 Alternate between Prescott Valley and Jerome. 22 miles, 120+ turns, up 3,000ft and back down 2,000.

I have a group that I write a “Stupid Car Facts” post for daily. This was today’s topic. I’m an engineer with OCD, being pedantic is a daily fact....

I was just pointing it out in response to the OP’s comment. And to be pedantic, the Ford 5.0 is 4.942L in displacement. So it does not round up. But a “Ford 4.9L” is a 300ci Straight 6 normally.

Ford is in a similar boat. The “5.0 Mustang” Fox Body cars are actually a 4.9L motor. No one will admit it, but yeah its 4.9 even though the badging reads 5.0....

I’m from central PA. There are more than one per county. More like 1-3 per township/borough.

In some “controlled testing” I managed to determine that the rear spoiler and Mach 1 style lip on the 01-04 New Edge mustang does in fact improve the high speed stability of the car. It is unsettled and floaty in the 110mph range, but cross 120 and the aero takes affect and settles the car down. She held smooth at 140.

Countdown until we see a Cars and Coffee incident in one of these starts.....now!

Kinja won’t let me edit my post. The Supra had the N/A motor NOT the legendary turbo motor.....
