In addition to the “IRS” calls, I keep getting calls telling me they can help me save money on the central A/C I don’t have, or that I might win a stay at a Marriott hotel.

I was about to write a similar comment, because I agree, eating Doritos and writing about mail puts Doug in the win column on that one.
Amazon reduced it’s Prime benefits sharing. Before, you could share the free 2 day shipping with up to 5 people, but now I think it’s limited to 1 other person and they have access to your payment methods. You can share the streaming services with a few people, but you could do that before just by signing them into…
Then there’s places like where I had my first real office job, and even though I got “exceeds expectations” on most of my review, I got the same amount of a raise as people marked lower than me. Which is to say the reviews were meaningless other than if they were bad enough to get fired.
Cash back (as a statement credit) was always the better option. If you redeem your points directly at any store, you’re missing out on immediately accruing more cash back.
Discover (or more specifically Discover IT) has 5% back on Amazon purchases from July-Dec, and Chase Freedom does 5% back from Oct-Dec. On top of that, when the 5% category is grocery stores (or drug stores), just buy an Amazon gift card so you still get the 5% cash back.
If you’re carrying a balance, a cash back rewards card is the wrong way to go anyway. No matter how low the interest is, it’s going to be higher than the cash back rate.
The warehouse category doesn’t apply to fuel, so it’s only inside warehouse stores like Costco. The Costco Visa has a pretty good deal though, 4% back on fuel, and 2% back on Costco purchases, which is better than Amex only doing the standard 1%.
They used to, but they don’t seem to anymore, and same deal for them. It’s better to take the cash back as a statement credit and continue using the card for purchases to get more cash back.
Removing my reply since blalien already answered and even provided a link.
No, it ruled that sharing a corporate login password so a former employee who started a competing business could download proprietary information was illegal. But even if it weren’t legal, I didn’t share my password, I logged into my account on those devices myself.
Whenver I visit my sister, I get all her kids’ uneaten hot dogs, mac & cheese (sometimes mixed together), chicken nuggets, pb&j sandwiches, and cream of wheat. They always seem to finish the string cheese though.
This is great. I already have a couple friends with Rokus signed into my Google account to view my movies, but now I can share some of the digital comics I’ve bought too.
I haven’t watched either convention live, but based on the morning news show I watched this morning, Hilary wasn’t actually there. Bill was, and gave the speech, then she appeared via video chat. And Lifehacker is probably the least biased site you’ll find among the Gawker Media sites, so I for one am glad they’re…
But you still get the full $1/100 points value if you choose to get cash back as a check, deposit into your account or applied to your balance. The incentives to use the card are still there (quarterly 5% categories, 1% on everything else).
Neither have I, since doing so also means you’re missing out on cash back from using the card.
The Chase rewards are the same if you just choose to have it deposited in your checking account or applied to reduce your balance. This is more a reason to not redeem the rewards directly with a retailer, the other reason being that if you’re doing that then you’re not using your card and getting more cash back. Same…
If it’s your first or one of your oldest cards, I’ve read it’s better to keep. But if you have a few others, then I think having too many open accounts is bad too.
It never made much sense to me to use the redemption rewards for purchases anyway. Just get it as credit on your bill, and then use the credit card on Amazon to get more points. Same for Discover, and Costco’s Citi Visa, assuming they send a check in February like they did with their branded Amex card, just cash the…
