A "cartoon villain"? I can't help but be reminded of the post from a few months ago in which Lindy described deliberately antagonizing her seatmate on a plane (bumping him, trying to take up his space) because she was annoyed with this stranger she'd never met before. Strange for another writer on this site to call

Perhaps this woman was the worst commuter ever, but the immediate response of the man sitting next to her (to shame her for her weight, rather than her behavior) and subsequent blowback speaks to a much larger issue.

Yes. My first thought was, "did they use a fucking hashtag as a cover line on Vogue?"

The fact that she is a celebrity, says a lot about the world and our values.

Oh, I don't have any problem admitting that they're a good-looking couple. I also have no problem admitting that I think they're both garbage on the inside.

Iowa! Des Moines is the capital of Iowa.

Not to be that guy, but Des Moines is in Iowa, yo.

As a teacher, I have to say, I am oh so very tired of seeing camel toe in the hallways. Girls shouldn't wear leggings as pants to school for the same reasons adults shouldn't wear them to work; they reek of unprofessionalism and are embarassing to look at (and FYI, no, I can't just not look at the students I'm working

The only solution is a return to school uniforms. Sexy, sexy school uniforms.

1. Neither the level of misogyny in the song nor the level of shame that the copyright older feels about the song diminishes their rights or their ownership in the song.

1) It's still the Beastie's song. And, according to Goldiebox, they were doing the commercial as a "comment" on the song. So it's very much about the Beastie's work and intent, regardless of the company re-recording the song.

I don't think their lifelong friend and band member is just "a dead guy" to them. I appreciate your enthusiasm for the company but this "dead guy" meant a lot to a lot of people.

Regardless, both are unacceptable. And the tone of these articles has been obnoxious.

This makes my head hurt. While I'm all about what Goldie Blox represents, it does not give them the right to rip off what another entity has worked hard at creating, regardless of the ethos or gender.

Saying that the Beastie Boys are ruined to you in one breath and referring to Adam Yauch as "a dead guy from their band" in the next? Yeah, you sound like you were a real fan.

Due to a precedent-based court system? Um... no. And also - you're being kind of a jerk. No one is entitled to 'that dead guy's' work, even for a good cause. Like, at all.

Exactly. It could be just to set precedence. Furthermore seems pretty unethical for this company to be using other peoples work without legal consent... So to argue the Band is being unethical seems a little hypocritical

all because a dead guy from their band told them not to do ads.

Short men are considered fair game for mockery in a lot of places (including Jezebel) because they don't conform to culturally enforced standards of beauty for their gender. A lot of us think that's hypocritical of Jezebel. Is at as bad as fat-shaming or all the other things women have to endure? Obviously not, but
