It’s not really a car in the common sense, barely so in the engineering sense. Nor is it an aircraft. But it’s faster than any airplane on earth at sea level, so it’s not just a car speed record - it’s an any vehicle sea-level speed record.

There’s no aircraft that can do 1000mph at sea level. The Tornado gets close at about 950mph, but that’s it. Most struggle to break Mach 1 even. The air is too dense.

This is by far the coolest shit happening in the automotive world and it’s getting far from enough press.

Good evening person who is wrong. Allow me to explain why you are wrong, so you may grab onto a lifesaver or right, and escape the sea of wrong which are you floating within.

Drive both, it’s apples to oranges.

It’s not an accent though. Paint is an accent, vinyl or plasti dip might be an accent, a bolt or snap on part that’s designed not to damage the paint might be an accent.

A yellow accent made out of paint, or vinyl, or that bolts on might be cool. A yellow accent that is made out of the car equivalent of the plastic film screen protector on a new iPhone is whack.

but...well, I ended up with an E46, which was my compromise in between modern safety and analog goodness. I’ve got to drive my mom around it a few times a year, for god’s sake.

There’s only two reasons to go to Reno from Portland that I’m aware of: to get to Tahoe for skiing, or to go to Burning Man. Neither can be done with 5 people in the car. Explain yourself.

True for run of the mill grocery getters, but not for this segment - performance electric cars.

How could you state the following:

“The cost has put people off too: $12,500 for an exhaust in a 25-year-old car seems stupid. Prohibitively stupid.”

For your predominantly off-road only vehicle yes. It’s a nightmare for a vehicle that has to remain a semblance of on-road performance. The unsprung weight alone is silly.

Common misconception about ammo - it’s really not the solid lead you need to worry about - even if you didn’t wash your hands and ate, very little is absorbed. It’s the primers - and resulting gun smoke, contains vaporized lead that you can inhale. That’s the nasty stuff.

60 year old guys run decent marathon times/climb mountains/etc etc.

The MX Master 2S is my favorite mouse ever by a long shot but it’s expensive. What they’ve done is taken all those ubiquitous older model popular mice/keyboards like M705 people used to like and cost-engineered them for higher margin. Those are not so great.

What drifters do to engines is not conducive to reliability and Ferrari engines cost 5x to rebuild/maintain than a Nissan mill, if they survive at all.
