Sadly, I was never able to take the Harry Potter course, which was offered as a seminar-style honors course (meaning it was small and would require lots of work and participation). I was on full scholarship, so money wouldn't have been an issue, especially because it was an honors course and not a big blow-off.

A course like you described sounds amazing! But I think that's why a lot of times courses like these are listed under 'Interdisciplinary' rather than 'English' (or at least that's how my undergrad listed the Harry Potter course it offered once when I was there).

That is a very good point - cost is an important consideration. However, degree programs always have a component for electives. It's then up to the student and his/her family to determine what electives they deem suitable. Some electives can be a blow-off (a friend of mine took 'Raquetball' one semester, which was a

I have a feeling it's probably more of a 'fun elective' than a course for serious English majors. Other universities have offered similar courses on Harry Potter and other fantasy stuff (although Tolkien courses probably falls under the 'serious course' for English majors). I wasn't an English major and was sad that I

There's been plenty of these for Harry Potter. I actually think it's a pretty cool elective option. I would have loved to take some of these courses (was never able to because my schedule was too full already), as I love reading the books and would love to discuss them in an academic setting.

I mean, it's a website (although some folks might use the app version, but that's still no excuse). There's no character limit. I always want to put my best foot forward when contacting someone for the first time, and using text speak, horrific grammar and lots of misspellings does not bode well. I also really dig

That actually doesn't sound too bad and pretty funny.

I even added to my OKC profile that I will not respond if your grammar is bad. Hasn't headed off all messages, but I have committed to not responding.

I can only see this reply having good results. Either the dude will be disheartened by your preempting his dick pic (and thus a good warning sign), or he will be flummoxed about why you would even think he was going to do that. That would then lead to a great laugh over this anecdote.

Famed baby's grandma to attend his first birthday. [Hello]

"well she could have broken down the door."

I like to think of cats more as 'discerning consumers.'

Please film this and share it!

I'm an American living in the UK. Prior to moving here for postgraduate study, I was warned that restaurants were much more expensive in the UK than in the US. I did experience some sticker shock initially, as the prices tend to be the same numerically but I was still converting all my spending from pounds to dollars

Tacky has been my favourite so far as well.

I have 3:

Aww poor kitty. I'm lucky that my cat is reasonably good at self regulating.

I think my cat would prefer that I be at risk for mercury poisoning so that he'd get the tuna water far more often.

That was a man???

I was saying elsewhere that my cat LOVES tuna water as well. He's not picky about the brand, although I make sure to buy cans that have the tuna in spring water rather than brine, as I figure the brine would be way too salty and wouldn't be that good for him.
