Do you think you’d feel the same way if it was someone else demanding the airline work to accommodate his refusal to sit next to the guy in this article because he had a problem with Jews?

This is not the same situation. Both parties are customers. One customer is receiving preferential treatment and harassing the other customer (who did nothing wrong) simply because of his religious views. They could have moved the man and then both parties’ rights would have been satisfied.
This makes me uncomfortable. No one should be asked to move, but religious beliefs should be respected (please note that I am an atheist). I think this guy should have been the one to move. Also, if this is happening often enough, then I think the airline should ask passengers whether they object to sitting next to…
Why wouldn’t they simply move the dude? He’s the one with the issue.
