Hey, I've seen photos from when my parents were kids, and there weren't any colors at all. I think they all got sold off during the Great Depression or something.

Yeah, I think some of this comes from the fact that "average" can refer to the statistical mean (in which case it is true that the "average american" spends $X gambling), but it can also refer to "the typical member of a population" (statistically, this is the "mode").

I wasn't a huge fan of Luck, but the one thing that I felt the show just nailed was its depiction of railbirds, those desperate gamblers who eke out a life while spending unhealthy amounts of time at the track. For a few years I spent a lot of time around guys like that at a track in Kentucky, and my goodness, that

What is someone makes a soccom about soccer moms? Would it be a soccommomcom?

Also, one person's "being preached to" is often another person's "I can relate to that." The examples in this article might seem preachy to someone who has never experienced this sort of harassment, but not to someone who has.

This list is all wrong as it left off my favorite movie, and everyone knows my personal tastes are the only correct ones.

In fairness, Ritalin is not a drug that should be taken so close to bedtime.

OK, I'm having a little trouble swallowing this:

That's a pretty good one.

"It's very accepted today that Othello was a Moor". Well, I should hope so, considering it is in the title of the play.

Wait, Jenna Elfman, right? Or am I nuts?

Well, again, maybe the problem is on my end, but the "point", as I determined it, was that Latin ~ Italian ~ Latino, which seems to be a somewhat far-out connection. But maybe your point was something completely different, and you mentioned the Latin/Italian for completely unreleated reasons. So, OK.

Well, perhaps I misread your comment. I'm going to assume the issue is on my end, but that last sentence just seemed like it was saying something maybe it didn't say?

Yeah, "Othello was white" might be the craziest damn thing I've ever read in this comments section. Have you no exposure to the play at all? Othello is explicitly not-white. It is a key part of the play, and mentioned several times, including by Othello himself.

And it is weird, because I just watched the video and, despite being in the still, he doesn't seem to appear in the video itself, unless he flashed by super quick.

Wait, you know Anthony Quinn was Mexican, right, and not particularly pale-skinned?

It certainly didn't help that the movie was an embarrassing failure in every way, which just made it that much easier to highlight the poor casting

You know that "Latino" is a reference to New Worlders who speak Spanish, a Latinate tongue, right? Very few people living in Latin America have substantial Italian heritage.

Personally, I loved the back & forth between Amos & Kenzo regarding the pronunciation of "Anubis".

Is Galaxy Quest a parody, though? I mean, it is certainly not like the movies on this list.
