He was interviewed as part of PBS’ coverage of Dobbs back in June, where he discussed why he changed his views on abortion. Broadly-speaking, he realized that the society he lives in doesn’t support parents and their children once they’re born, and saw that the anti-abortion movement had shifted from a moral, Christian

Democrats need to stop playing by rules that no longer exist. Biden and every progressive Democrat should be in full throated apeshit mode every damn day for expanding the Court. Equally they should be in an absolute freak out over Dobbs at the same time. Yet all we get is derp derp dee poo poo whaddya gonna do. It’s

I have a feeling that Gorsuch is going to be one of those guys the conservatives look at it 25 years and be like, “Wait, who vetted this asshole again?”

Every accusation is a confession with these assholes

Schenck said he decided to come forward with the information because he realized what he did—leveraging access to the conservative justices to raise money for his nonprofit—“was wrong.” His views have also shifted on abortion rights in recent years, and he now considers himself a “progressive evangelical leader.”

Totally agree with you, but “she managed to avoid the charges of defrauding of Theranos patients” implies that she wasn’t charged for those wrongful blood tests..

Which makes ‘amazingmeow’s point stand.

What does it even matter? We give them unchecked power for life with absolutely no possibility of anything happening other than some op-eds. It’s not like there will be any drawbacks or fallout for this scumbag on any level.

She then quoted a Rumi poem: “Yesterday I tried to change the world. Today I’m wise, and want to change myself.”

Exactly! A claim like ‘a drop of blood’ is sufficient for dozens of tests should be enough to make you suspicious all by itself.

But to then drop millions of bucks into it without even a wisp of due diligence? I mean, Elizabeth Holmes needs to go to jail FOR SURE, but those investors absolutely deserved to lose their

“They don’t put attractive people like me in jail...

...unless they defraud other rich people.”

There, fixed it for you. She’s right the justice system is a joke - but she misunderstood why.

Medical cmpany. Perhaps Theranos will find out from first hand experience that health care for prisoners who are pregnant is terrible, bad, and risks lives. Perhaps do something about that as someone wanting to do something for the health of people.

Punishment, prison term, yes, hard yes.

This is a reminder that the only crime that the wealthy and powerful will be held accountable for are those crimes that financially hurt other wealthy and powerful people. She fucked around with wealthy investor’s money and found out.

She thinks she nearly succeeded in getting away with the fraud.

I have a friend who works as a lab technician, where they actually test blood samples. When Theranos first started making headlines and were on the way up to that eventual $9B valuation, she told me “it’s all bullshit. You can’t do tests on that little blood, much less the dozens she says they can do. This isn’t going

“If the client has enough money. I can keep them out of jail for seven years.” - a criminal defense lawyer told me this at one of firms Christmas parties back in the early ‘90s.

In court documents advocating for a lenient sentencing, Holmes attorneys called her “an intelligent, fearless woman who took on a huge project that should have changed the world and nearly succeeded.”

I agree with the judge. Where was that contrition when she attacked her employees who exposed the fraud?

I regret my failings with every cell of my body.”

I’m so tired of the fake contrition, she’s not sorry for her “failures”. She’s sorry she got fucking caught doing crimes she felt entitled to get away with and now has to face some consequences for her actions.
