Thank you. I was similarly confused.

Yeah, this just gets sketchier and sketchier.
My thoughts exactly upon reading the headline.
It’s another instance of what I call “large dog syndrome”. Small dogs are just as capable of being nippy or even aggressive, but they’re less capable of doing severe damage. So when a large dog snaps at someone, they freak the fuck out. Overall, incidents with small dogs get laughed off, while those with large dogs…
Their description of the “cooling” process is confusing. They bombard the antimatter with photons, which “excite” them, which implies that they are actually imparting energy from the photons to the antiatoms, which is actually “heating” (or at least what you’d expect from heating). So either the author or the…
It’s been a while since I read it, but wasn’t At The Mountains of Madness like that? Basically the guy telling a story about wandering a cave finding all these petroglyphs pointing to some unspeakable horror, then running away when he hears and maybe catches a glimpse of some eldritch horror?
Practical considerations never matter for them. They can’t get happy unless they’re oppressing someone, and the more powerless the subjects of the oppression are, the better.
Hate and megalomania: the driving emotions of republicans.
Unfortunately even “blue” states are full of xtians who would clutch their pearls so hard they’d break their fingers if you introduced such legislation. As much as it’s desperately needed (despite, you know, the constitution...), it’d be hard to get support for it, and any legislator introducing such a bill would be…
He can’t even do bald right. Even if you were to accept that his face or body is somehow sexy, what’s left of his hair looks like shit.
THIS. The author’s take is bizarre.
Yeah, they didn’t create stuxnet. They just modified it and set it loose on the world.
Exactly. The take in this article is infuriating and confounding. Why on earth would you just stand back and let someone hack you? Oh, they’re “friendlies”? Oh, I guess that’s fine, then. jfc...
The coating is one of the most chemical-tasting things I’ve ever... tasted. It’s truly vile.
Once again, “hard left” - if only!
Oh, he most certainly knows. He’s just misrepresenting the meaning. Arguing in bad faith is republican modus operandi.
The call is coming from inside the house!
We’ve talked about it so often in the comments that I’m surprised it took Jez staff this long to make a post about it.
That these are stable, “protected” environments specifically argues against the development of more complex life, and in particular sapient life, as there would be no selectionary pressures to encourage its development. It would basically be a world of bacteria, single-celled life, with perhaps some colonial organisms.
I guess they just didn’t know how torsos work back then.
