I usually reply with Happy Hannukah if they “correct” me. Of course, I celebrate that and Christmas so “Happy Holidays” is actually grammatically correct for me personally, beyond covering bases for others.

As someone who doesn’t keep up with celeb news well, what is the gist of that story?

As a woman in the same camp, it happens to some of us too.

I think it’s also important to bring up the rural vs. urban factor, such as it was at the time. A lot of research has been done into the fact that the majoirty of the accusers were from the more rural parts of Salem (often called Salem Farms when dividing it up) while a lot of the accused were from the town proper

I honestly love the Penny Arcade. So many people on cetain other issues have been jumping on people for wanting to actually talk to someone who may know something by claiming that’s “intellectual labor” and besides, you have the internet, just look it up! Even though it’s something you claim to know nothing about,

There’s also the fact that there is very little to the Ancient One besides the “Old Asian Mentor” stereotype. The original was a very flat character, partially owing to the time it was written and partially due to only mattering in Strange’s backstory.

I got like six replies I dismissed on this article and the previous where people called Mordo a token. He’s the third biggest character in the film after Strange and Ancient One! After Strange he has the most important character arc! That is not token! Being the best written Baron Mordo ever is also not token!

For example, Baron Mordo whom everyone is as usual ignoring when they chat about this film whitewashing...cause yeah, they not only made him black, they gave him an actual character too. Instead of his usual “transparently evil rival” shtick.

Pepper Ann did a great parody of it in one episode with Pepper Ann’s mom as the juror who convinces the others. I was amazed when finally saw the original film version in high school.

Vegeta’s pretty sure they do but he’s not reliable on these things.

Well the one they kept (Wong) they made MUCH less of a stereotype which was nice. I’ve always liked Wong in the comics and cartoons and so to now have him be here and be totally awesome was great.

    She’s Celtic.

Yeah. Linkara started his review to Holy Terror by talking about how originally the thing was going to be a send up of WW2 propaganda comics which he initially thought sounded cool...until he realized that meant it would by nature be racist since a lot of those older books are (then he notes on how it failed to even

Ditto on the Judaism and quadrupled for asexuality. My god do people not get asexuality and need it explained a lot but you know what? Fine! I can explain! I want you to understand and therefore will help you do so! Because better you get it from me than randomly googling and either getting confused by conflicting

Honestly I was still too stunned they did him at all (he’s always been a character people don’t seem to know how to use in a lot of situations bar his solo series so I was surprised to see him added to the MCU).

    Yup.

Am I still the only one who cares about Mordo? Cause, yeah, Mordo. Somehow they changed his race with no one commenting (despite the Johnny Storm kerfuffle being in recent memory) while ALSO turning him into an actually interesting character. AND they finally got Wong out of the Asian Manservant niche (I’ve always

Given what happened when Johnny Storm was made black I was surprised to see no one noticed. And not only did they cast a black actor but they made the character AWESOME. Mordo’s usual shtick is more your basic evil rival stuff, usually works for the bigger bad and is a dick but little else. Here they made him

I do find it interesting how no one seems to be talking about them making Baron Mordo black. Cause...yeah, this is comics Mordo.

Yep. The Chinese market should not be underestimated and they may ave taken that into account.
