Can someone enlighten me? The name “Philippa Georgiou” is a very Greek-Cypriot name. Now, I love Michelle Yeoh and I’m not very Star Trek-knowledgeable—but what’s the deal? It’s just a really specific, ethnic name and I find it bizarre. Anyone?

I used to think the same thing, especially going for Brazilian wax. But my dermatologist and laser lady both told me to #stahp :(

Bodega cats are the best cats <3

Yup! Razor is fine, but definitely no more pulling hair from the root!

It’s not that it won’t work, but the best response is having a combo of lighter skin & darker hair. Laser definitely doesn’t do anything for white hairs or really light hairs, as I’ve discovered that unfortunate side of “aging” (white pubes—agh! I’m not even 40 yet! :(

I’m a huge fan of TMI, no worries (lol). I did a lot, probably 7-8 sessions until I really started to notice a visible reduction of hair. My skin started feeling smoothly faster than that, but the amount of hair I had was insane. I was consistently booking appointments according to their recommended schedule, which

Yes, I completely agree. And it’s incredibly frustrating on every level. Thanks again for your thoughtful comments! I miss normal conversations :/

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I just get nervous when people place their faith in one person to fix everything—like a Jesus figure—because it means people start checking out, when any sort of real change requires strategy and focus.

I have to tell you, I also started with Brazilian laser thinking I could deal with the rest if I could just have smooth skin on my bikini area and ass. It was the worst pain of my life (when that laser zaps at the pubic bone....AGH!) but I didn’t care. Especially once the hair started falling off and my skin was

And this is the problem with a two-party system. Ocasio-Cortez cannot save the Democrats, any more than moderate Republicans will save the GOP. Until that inner-circle of elites on both sides gets the boot (which corporate interests who support them will never allow to happen), she will have a really hard time passing

Plenty of white women get routinely mocked for their natural body hair, if you are of Mediterranean/Greek/Italian persuasion. Those particular whites are of northern lineage, who have a mere sprinkle of it. But the rest of their bodies are conveniently smooth. Wow! So edgy!

You’re absolutely right. But I was talking about the promotion directly, not Fiji as a company in general. They are indeed garbage, like Coke-owned Dasani and a thousand other garbage brands that exploit vulnerable countries.

Nah, no part of this was unplanned. But the fact that they got SO much coverage I’m sure that even surprised them. Le sigh.

You’re not wrong at all, but I was specifically referring to this promotion. But all major corporations like Fiji have destroyed lands and hurt communities. See also Dasani. And on and on and on. Le sigh.

Totally, and I get why shows like Today and GMA were pretending it was a real story. Morning shows is all sponsorships but...primetime news?! ugh

First of all, I’m still confused how anyone did NOT think this was a paid promotion (and why news outlets covered it as if it was some viral accident—give me a fucking break).

bahahahaha

Yes it is definitely superior. I fucking hate commercials and just for that alone, even at the same relative cost it’s worth it!

Maybe. The consumer will definitely lose out. Cable had a hold on people by bundling their channels into a package. Right now, if just an internet connection costs $50 a month (Spectrum NYC), then HBO Now costs $15, Netflix is $11, Hulu $12, plus whatever Amazon costs, that’s about $100. That’s cable, basically.

I like Gaga and her music, but she’s becoming really insufferable. I guess she was always like that (over the top about her “art”) but this movie and her obsession with Bradley Cooper that is all kinds of uncomfortable to watch....I can’t deal. And I am cheesy and love all the awards shows, no matter how boring they
