Mayo is the way to go. I heard about that from a former friend and tried it one day, blew butter out of the water. If you still want that buttery taste, spread some on the inside of the bread, but always use a very thin layer of mayo on the outside.

I’m just here to remind everyone that you should use mayo on the outside of the grilled cheese instead of butter. Yes, I know, mayo is gross, I hate it too. However, I learned of this a few years ago and I will never, ever, EVER use butter again. The mayo is magic and can’t be tasted.
