I can’t say for all states, but I’ve found the law usually just says the plate has to be mounted vertically on the front of the vehicle. The DOT allows some wiggle room in Y axis as well.

It’s gorgeous. Some day I’d love to take it west further than the Twin Cities, but Wisconsin is surprisingly pretty as well. A stop in the Dells is always worth it- there are some really pretty hiking trails around there.
