I’ve run a few short yellows in my truck just because of its long stopping distance and a little squirelly rear end business. Four wheel drum brakes!
I like to think that anyself-respecting officer would understand the safety risks in trying to stop too short with an old vehicle, but then I’ve also seen cops do some…
I think we’ve all been there at one time or another, whether on two or four wheels. It’s a good reminder to pick an appropriate pace, and I hope the guy is okay!
I can’t speak for motorcycles, but on a bicycle it doesn’t seem any better or worse. It could be better on a bike if your car’s windshield is dirty, or worse if your windshield is clean but tinted or polarized. Most cars have visors, obviously, but when the sun is that low you can’t use them.
The video of it offroading didn’t load. :(
You are right for putting it in neutral with a manual- it saves your throwout bearings. In an auto, you hold your foot on the brake. The entire time. It’s annoying. If you let your foot off the brake, the car creeps forward.
Sorry for the late response on this one. It does look different; I’ll give you that. But I don’t think it looks all that good, especially from the rear, where there is not enough relief to adequately embody the styling theme, plus the graphics aren’t really resolved IMO. Especially on black cars.
Ok, conceptually I will agree, but the detailing is current. I think from a brand perspective it was a good idea to keep the swoopy C-shape- it differentiates it and is self-reinforcing.
It would be interesting to see what other themes they were working on before this one was chosen.
I guess I don’t really understand what is making you think the Chiron looks 11 years old. The whispy hints of lines along smooth surfaces make this a great development of the Veyron, in my opinion. It’s surely more ostentatious than the Veyron, with its inset headlamps and rear fascia. But I think its sheetmetal…
Design students have been drawing the layered look and those colored ribbons for ten years or more- I remember seeing that sort of stuff in ads on Car Design News ca. 2005.
The surfaces, highlights and graphics are very complex in almost every part of the vehicle- this has been escalating “flame surfacing” since around…
Evocation another era does not disqualify a car from being attractive or iconic. For instance, one could argue the Mercedes 300SL’s fender eyebrows brought back the SSK’s look.
Yes, the Chiron is busier looking than the stripped down racecars of yore. But compared to today’s over the top, complicated styling, the…
Pics/links to this Gambian truck? Both sound kind of appealing, to be honest. I’ll take whichever comes in a single cab long box.
Avoids? It embodies most current fads!
Also, I’ve had many times, driving my F-100, where I need to pass a semi that is doing a few MPH under my speed. I have short (stock) gearing on a three speed trans, a low redline and don’t want to wring the engine out over 65MPH; this means it sometimes takes a bit to get around a semi.
I’m not driving some Corolla…
While I agree with you that the rear doesn’t match the rest, I think that oh-so-French C-shaped graphic on the side is much better executed than the Veyron. On top of that, the front fascia, although a bit busy, seems to have pretty nice surfacing. The door surface is clean and simple. Ahead of the front axle, I think…
How far are you from Warren, and do you need a hand this week?
You can live in a tent and a tent will fit in a Renault Alpine GTA.
My condolences.
