And that is where government grants come in, sometimes. I think Mate is missing the point in this article.

I’d be really interested in (and thought about building) a very small BEV intended for highway use. Theoretically if you could stuff enough batteries in and get the drag an RR low enough, you could get a pretty decent range with no hydrogen at all! Of course, the problem is recharging and/or battery swapping.

Mate is actually a Yurrpean!

60mph is fine on the highway. It’s basically the highway cruising speed of my F-100, so I’m used to it. I’m sure potential buyers of the hydrogen car would get used to it too. :)

I can think of a few entrance ramps that could be hairy, but doable. Remember, it’s only 1300 lbs. I’m not saying it wouldn’t take some clever driving, but it would probably hit 50mph in time to merge in.

Hey, I think it looks kinda neat. The side view has a sort of 60's kei-car-copying-an-Italian-coupe vibe with the clean lines and tall greenhouse.

Most highways (not freeways) around the US are 55-65mph anyway, so I don’t see how 60mph is slow, considering what you’d be driving. Unless you’re talking about the

4 wheels off = DNF though, right?

Yeah, but what’s its ‘ring time?

This is somehow the best explanation possible. COTD.

Oh man, I love the skinny three piece wheels.

The Cruze was inspired by the Cobalt which was inspired by the Cavalier. The Geo Metro’s slot in the lineup is now filled by the Spark. At least do a little research!

My mother just bought one. She says she likes it better than the Sonic or Spark she test drove. I couldn’t run away from a crossover fast enough, but it’s her money.

Welcome to literally any hobby anywhere. The good fit in and/or don’t get noticed, and the bad ones make news and start a ‘reputation’.

More stars for you.

The reality is that most people in modern cars don’t use anything near their full braking potential, so staying back and being aware of traffic is all that’s needed in most cases when driving an old car. Not paying attention while driving a modern car can (and will) get you killed too.

No one is confusing the 911 with the Beetle, or vice versa.

It’s a joke based on shared history and similar profiles.

TBH the Rabbit did look nice, but I don’t understand how someone could think 1970's styling was 2010's styling. Chrome bumpers, steel valence, sealed beams, 13" wheels... just... how?

Because they look, and likely operate, NOTHING alike.

Read that book, and it’ll make some sense. In case you honestly don’t know, the cars share a lot more than the general look. Rear mounted aircooled flat engines, designed by the same guy, etc.

As to whether people actually can’t tell model years, I honestly think some people can’t. Around 2010 people were asking me if

It’s truly frightening when he’s stopped and all you hear are horns and screeching tires. I half expected him to get rear-ended at 85mph.

Really interesting stuff. I saw the Scout concept at the ACD Museum years back, and it was pretty busy looking. This model looks very much like a Range Rover competitor to me- boxy, cab rearward proportions and clean styling. With the right appointments, IHC may have had a better chance at staying in business until
