Wow, that sucks, but it should be recoverable before spring. I would suggest the following purchases:

They don’t just put obvious blackouts in headlamps like that- at least not that I’m aware of. Besides, amber in the headlamp is a touchy issue these days. Back in the 90's everyone was doing it!
That’s likely just some engineering and fabrication away from happening.
I agree with the design direction point. Keeping the reflex off makes the styling of the lamp more fluid and cohesive. Adding an amber portion would upset the look.
Ah, gotcha. I didn’t see that part in photos. It is well-integrated. I think the problem is the cost of developing another lamp- it’s quite an expensive part, and would raise the price of the car. At the end of the day, it’s a people hauler, not a sports car. :)
Don’t be fooled though; the E39, introduced 20 years ago, only has side marker lights with no reflectors. The ones on the others are stand-alone reflectors. The F30 has no side reflexes in Europe, but has to put them on for us. I think it’s just regulations, and it’s easier to put them in the wheel flat than elsewhere.
You’re missing out. Cassette albums at thrift shops, at about 50¢, are probably the best deal in cheap music if you like older stuff. And some current bands are releasing on cassette, although that may prove to be a fad.
There are probably better ways of executing it, yes. But keep in mind, the current Corvette, Viper and even Aventador have similar treatments.
Well if the light pipe stays there, there’s not a whole lot of room in the side of the housing.
Illinois plates but I would almost say the accent is from the northern lower peninsula of Michigan.
Yeah, I don’t see how electrifying an old chassis is going to help them. It would seem to be an odd place to start, considering Saab’s long history of innovation.
How many spots are still open? I would be interested, and it wouldn’t be too bad of a ride up and back. On the other hand, fifty bucks could buy a lot of tools and/or parts...
I’m with you, although I fell in love with Saab in college. It was a bit painful to see the company falling apart just as I was getting into it.
Sorry for the late reply, but I believe the Sonett was a planned production car, not a concept. The white orthographic side view appears to be a digital model likely built in Autodesk Alias and refined in Photoshop- standard workflow in the industry. It seems that JC may have done some re-creation of the planned cars,…
Yeah, I guess there is a significant chance that they will end up kind of like Borgward. But I have to believe that the Swedes will push to innovate.
I would be most concerned about changing safety standards that may impact (heh) the cars. I don’t know what may or may not have changed, but with every year they don’t produce them, the cars get less and less relevant and/or feasible on the global market.
Make the autonomous cars drive correctly, and make everyone else drive better. As people move to autonomous cars more and more, we’ll have safer streets. The programming for these cars could be worked up within guidelines set by the NHTSA, NCAP or other auto safety organization.
I don’t know how much you ride, but I’ve found that after riding every day, I hardly ever have issues with that sort of thing. The more you ride, the better you get, and the safer you are.
