Some people identify with some emotional responses more strongly than others; seems like it's very much up to the individual. Some people are inspired by beautiful scenes or great works of art, some love to be a hero and to revel in their triumph, and some people identify with the plights of what could be real people…

But I'm glad games are expanding to the point where "fun" isn't the barometer of success. I'm interested in having games make us uncomfortable, allowing us to empathize with situations we couldn't otherwise understand. That's "exciting."
